Calgary, Alberta, March 7, 2007 – Cambrian House Inc., an online commercialized crowdsourcing community, received top votes in Canadian Business magazine’s Pitch 4 Profit contest in February, landing them as one of three Canadian start-up businesses competing at the Canadian Venture Forum’s Great Canadian Pitch-Off. Michael J. Sikorsky, Cambrian House CEO presented at the Pitch-Off and Cambrian House was announced the winner at the Canadian Venture Forum’s wrap-up dinner last night.

Cambrian House competed against ViaVol and Telegle for the interest of Canada’s angel and venture investment community members. The contest saw each company’s video elevator pitches played for the judges and audience before presenting live and answering tough questions from the judges including Kevin O’Leary of Dragon’s Den. Votes from the audience were tallied and Cambrian House was declared the winner.

The Canadian Venture Forum ran March 4–6, 2006 and was hosted by the Toronto Venture Group.

For Sikorsky, the accomplishment was being selected by the crowd. “Empowering the crowd to make the decision is what Cambrian House is all about,” he said. “How great is it that a company building a crowdsourcing community was selected by the audience as the most compelling pitch at the Great Canadian Pitch-Off. The other competitors have great ideas too, and I’m sure they’ll be successful. I wish them luck.”

Originally, Cambrian House was selected as one of Profit Magazine’s 25 finalists in the Pitch 4 Profit video contest. Video pitches were posted online and then narrowed down to three finalists that pitch live at the Canadian Venture Forum.
