Crowdsourcing community announces there will always be an abundance of pie (and everything else) in the universe.
Calgary, Canada (July 10, 2006) - Cambrian House Inc., a Calgary-based software company with a unique crowdsourcing business model, announced an equally unique universe outlook. "The Universe is Abundant," the company proclaimed on their blog.
While the philosophy is mentioned on the website, the blog post expands on the principle and the unique justification for embracing it. "Believing the universe is abundant means not seeing the world as one of scarcity. Instead of fighting for the last piece of the pie, we believe the supply is endless. It means not living and operating our company from a basis of fear," the post explains.
Among other core principles are that people are inherently trustworthy and that intent matters. The principles themselves, while not original, are a breath of fresh air in the cutthroat, tunnel-vision industry of software development.
Michael J. Sikorsky, CEO of Cambrian House, remarks on the people-oriented, positive values. "We can't run a business based on fear. If we choose to lose sleep over what others are doing, we are being reactive, not constructive. We are going to grow and make mistakes along the way, but we are not going to be slowed down by our attitude."
The company admits that its unique beliefs are not shared by all. "Viewing the universe as abundant is what we believe. We know not everyone thinks this way and that's okay with us. However, we want to work more closely and partner with those who see the universe in the same way we do."
