Who I am: My name is Jacques Snyman. I'm a geek. There's no other way to describe it. I buy gadgets, program, read a lot and game a lot. Geek. I spend a lot of time reading blogs and articles. I've also recently become quite active in a few of the .NET newsgroups. What I do: I'm a senior .NET developer. I've worked quite a bit in the financial as well as workflow and document management industries, mainly implementing and customizing such solutions for customers. I've mainly worked in Java, VB6-.NET, and C#. Where I Live: For those of you ignorant of the geography, South Africa is a country on the Southern tip of Africa. Yes, the bit at the bottom. Johannesburg is a large city in the interior of the country. Yes, a proper city with large buildings, freeways, and broadband. In any case Jo'burg (as it is affectionately known) is the economic driver of South Africa, and South Africa is the biggest economy in Africa. In fact, it's about number 12 worldwide. No we don't have lions wandering the streets. Nor do we have leopards making off with the pets. I flew into Jo'burg once with some tourists who were horribly disappointed when we landed at the airport. They were expecting elephants wandering across a dirt strip runway. Dunno how we were going to land on said dirt strip runway in our 747, but hey. Anyway, I love Jo'burg, it's cosmopolitan, vibey and has a pulsating energy to it. Plus, it's got a fantastic climate. Johannesburg has a tree density so high that it is officially categorized as a forest, the largest man-made forest in the world.
