For parents who like fun and unique apparel for their baby the Zodibaby onesie is a baby onesie that expresses their own baby's individuality. Unlike other baby onesie's our product is a customized zodiac onesie.
Infant onesies with adorable, cartoon illustrations of zodiac signs.
Step 1. Choose your onesie …quot; color and size
Step 2. Choose zodiac sign
Step 3 (optional). Choose up to five from a list of 20 description traits that pertain to the sign
Step 4. Choose font you’d like the text to appear (the traits will appear in a semi-circle around the cartoon zodiac, with the name and dates of the zodiac sign written underneath).
Step 5. Order your onesie!
My friend and I came up with this idea and did some research. There is someone else out there with a similar concept but they don’t offer customization and consumers can’t purchase the product “one off,” only stores can buy wholesale batches…
I thought of this idea while brainstorming with a friend... trying to come up with a gift ideas for friends with new babies. We liked this idea because it would make a unique gift and it's a way for parents to express their own baby's individuality.
AHHHHHH
There are still people out there who believe this zodiac shit?
Tommy
Vanhees -
I don't think the point of the idea is to convince people. It's just to create a marketable clothing line for children. Obviously there are tons of moms that would say "oh thats just adorable" to thing kind of thing. In my opinion, if there is money to be made its a good idea.
edit - "this kind of thing"
I like this idea. It is scalable in that more product ranges can be designed around the basic idea.
vanhees
tut tut tut bit of a potty mouth!
It doesnt matter if you "believe" zodiac or not really. It's just a unique, fun gift idea for babies...
P.S. Thanks to those with the constructive comments!
I think not necessary to restrict to zodiac? Just make it one of the choices will do!
Whether they're BS or not, horoscopes are big business (I do, however, agree with you in principal Vanhees).
I think though that you may need to a.) add something a little more unique to your offering to avoid being easily replicated by pre-existing businesses and b.) figure out whether you can leverage crowdsourcing for the execution of this idea.
Re b.) - How about having a site that let's members write their own silly / humourous / baby-oriented horoscope messages that are printed with the signs?
We thought keeping it to the zodiac signs would make it somewhat unique and not just another baby onesie website. There are so many out there that offer a variety of cute slogans (for someone who does it well, check out http://www.urbansmalls.com/).
I agree with you siddey that this idea needs to be flushed out little to utilize the members here...
I just saw Zodiac recently. Tarnishes anything starting with the letter Z for me.
Is there any way to leverage micro-shirt-printers like...
http://www.cafepress.com/
...you have a front end which takes all the info you're needing, compiles the custom design into a format needed by CafePress... and you're basically just building a marketing engine and front end for a CafePress centric operation.
I think that's the cheapest way to get this ball rolling. If there is interest, you can find a more cost effective method for printing.
Undecided on this....I'm guessing a "onesie" is like a teddy bear....something real you can squeeze?
Hmmm, I suppose. Marketing would be key here. Perhaps start a shop at http://www.etsy.com to get going on this.
travellingguy: Onesie is shirt that buttons over the crotch so that it doesn't ride up on the baby. Don't worry I didn't know either until someone told me.
While the idea may be cute/sort of good. I'm not sure it is a business. this seems like a good single product feature. That if succesful would be copied by other baby clothes makers the next day.
Larsbell
All successful ideas will be copied. All of them. This should not be a deterrent to having the idea and pursuing it.
TravellingGuy! Obviously not a father! A onesie is a type of outfit that babies wear. It is a one-piece thing, hence the name. Typically has a convenient 3-snap sequence just below the crotch for easy changing of diapers.

I think this is a cute idea, but how do you plan to crowdsource it? Perhaps the crowd would supply the image art?
I think this can be done very simply. It is similar to my Mr.robot idea in ways. It can be done and done with low cost.
"crowdsource it?" My guess is fun sayings, programing, graphics, etc...
I am interested. Do you have financial backup? I will work for Cambros and I know how to get a website up.
As mother of a 'onesie' wearer (by the way we call them no sleeve/short sleeve or long sleeve 'bodysuits' here in Australia) personalised baby and children's clothing is a growing market that CAN probably bear another product like this.
As others have suggested, I think the success of this will be in how unique the designs are and the amount of personalisation that can be done.
There are many options for teaming up with existing manufacturers for the printing as other CH'ers have mentioned and the online interface shouldn't be too difficult or expensive to develop.
As a refinement suggest would also be in the quality of the material. If you can offer say an organic cotton/hemp options or extra soft man-made fibres like modal then you may have an additional selling point.
(If you decide to go ahead with this idea, feel free to PM me if you want additional links to similar baby good personalisation sites here in Aus for comparision/operation/layout ideas.)
A non software idea I actually like... mainly because I can see this being executed. Congrats.
I know of no less than 3 new (within 6 months) baby clothes stores that have opened up near my home. There is a huge market for things like these if you can set up the appropriate distribution. Could be part online but you'll also need to think of retail since it would (and should) account for 90% of your overall sales.
This could really sell. My wife, her mom, her friends, etc waste so much money on various onsies.
Agree with Siddey
Yeah... I'm not sure that this is the right "type" of idea for Cambrian House. I have to be honest; I'm pretty confused about this site (and the crowdsourcing concept) for the most part!
I do have another (web-based idea) that may be a better fit for this forum...
I think it is a good idea for CH. You could get help with designs and the website.
Other people will help you develop the product range.
How about adding the Chinese Zodiac, and making T-Shirts etc, for grown ups ?.
I for one have a few people in mind, that I would love to send a gift of a T-Shirt which has an ugly little Rat or Snake embossed on it. Lol.
An emergency stock of T-Shirts with Dragon or Pig embossings could also come in handy Lol.
Good Luck, I think that you have a great idea.
