I have years and years of old birthday, wedding anniversary, mothers day, sisters, brothers, cousins, grandchildren and grandparents etc cards why not make a book of versus to help the latest craze of card making.
when I was deciding whether I should throw them all away and I just couldn't
Hi Tilly
There a quite a few poetry site on the web
Like a card competition ? Where users can vote on which is the better card ?
Getting closer Tilly :) Glad to see you back.
I am thinking of some ideas to transform this a little... let me get back to you once the transform gels.
Tilly
Can you tell me what the latest craze of card making is ?
Tommy
My wife, Helen's cousin came to dinner last night. Trish and her mother are caught up in the card making craze and they make all their own cards. They were excited by this idea. They say that making the cards is the easy bit. They always struggle to come up with a good verse.
These cards are physical in as much as you buy all the bits and bobs and stick them together at home.
I am finding it difficult to find a way to make money from this
The cards would be copyrighted... are you suggesting lifting the verses from the old cards? I'm sure a site could be built around people submitting verses, and eventually the content could be printed in a book.
But I'm voting this down until...
- I see someone (or yourself) sounding like they're interested in this idea enough to organize it into a business.
- You can suggest how copyrighted material will be screened.
I have a card making program that had the saying and verses. It was also customizable. It is a really old program on a 3&1/2 floppy. I am sure there are lots of new programs and other versions of it. Look on the Inter-web.
i will say its done! on web not really sure! but there are many pocket books around!
Perhaps what Tilly was talking about is a two part idea:
One is based on the "lazyguy" factor, who lacks the creative muscle to write from the heart. By cataloging the personal message one could be edit-to-fit.
The second is based on that feeling of not being able to part with the memory. By accessing that human drive to hoard may be the stimulant that could also drive the business...
You may have a place where the community can hoard all their most precious memories (public/private).
???
I'm just not sure how Tilly would bring all of this together. It needs so more thought.
Tilly, Are you really the Queen? - your photo looks strikingly similar to the "Ask the Queen" pic...
The copyright is the killer here.
bcforrester No I am definitely not the Queen. Thank you so much everyone for your kind comments about my card verses idea the media are now asking everyone to throw away their Christmas Cards I find this almost impossible especially the ones with the lovely versus. I already have provided one of my card making friends with a number of special day versus. However I don't know where I go from this?
Got something to say?
