Job security is a thing of the past. Hire and fire is the way to go. What if there is a way for us working folks to setup options to fall back on if we are suddenly left without a job or work due to no fault of ours?
How do we help create a stream of income while at work?
almost laid off three times and it got me jolted up to go out and find or setup something...
If I would be able to aswer that question I would live in a small castle in France..
Sounds like exactly what CH is designed to do, let anyone with an idea assemble a team and a business.
Anyone who tells you this is easily done is selling you something.
Ever here about saving? I know this is a hard concept for most people. But, actually saving money will keep you out of this mess.
I agree Kevin, but loads of people have problems enough to make ends meet without being able to save.
"I agree Kevin, but loads of people have problems enough to make ends meet without being able to save."
OK, so save a little each day put aside $10-$20. If you really have a lot of problems making ends meet you need to seriously re-evaluate your situation.

Stocks, bonds and mutual funds?
Are you talking about financial reserves to fall back on - savings, stocks, bonds, etc - or future job options?
Hi,
There are many talented people here in CH.
I agree with you that working as an employee offers little security and in many cases, around the world; employees are treated little better than commodities.
Little has actually changed since Jean Jacques Rousseau (1712-1778) wrote " The Social Contract"
Quote: " Man is born free, but everywhere he is in chains." (Rousseau)
May I suggest that you make a list of around 10 Jobs that would really make you happy, then bounce these jobs around on the forums.
I am sure you will get assistance.
When you have crowdsourced the best possibility, start doing it part time after work.
If you make a success of it, You are Free, the chains are broken !
Good Luck.
Castle in France, JJ Rousseau... well, as a frog I just HAVE to croak! France has one of the (self-said) "best" employment insurance system. It is public, massive, and it mainly helps people administering it (eating money, implying a relatively low redistribution rate), slackers and crooks (avoiding work thanks to other's efforts) and some honest people (many ). See 'assistanat', 'clientélisme'. Stay away from this approach if you want to preserve some fighting instinct among good men.
Boosting the economy may be a way to alleviate such problems (everyone has a correct job, everyone saves money), but such an embracing approach leads to similarly generic questions (are the necessary underlying resources infinite? Are all human beings made for work, or even willing to work?...)
Your problem/idea is very broad, with many partial solutions. One of those would have to do with unions. Their power in the US (other countries too?, I think) has dwindled, while corporations' power has grown dramatically. That balance will have to shift back at some point.
Well it seems that you have identified a need... But no solution. I don't really see an idea here, but rather a request for an idea. I am sure that there is something that could be created... But unemployment insurance was created for that reason..
Got something to say?
