How will you prevent spammers?

In what format would I get such an alert? What information will be contained?

More importantly, will I be able to select the sort of deal I'm interested in?

This sounds like twitter where you automatically receive tweets from people in a certain geographic area rather than just people you've added to your list.

I wouldn't want to know which thing which friend bought at any time...
If you want people to know what you've bought, put it on your nickname in messenger, on your wall on facebook, a pic of the product in your space,...
See if it 'd make you popular... :-)

Where can I unsubscribe?
I don't want more spam in my inbox.
I'll just tell someone when I've found something cool.

The format will probably in SMS form where users can rate it as spam. As for recieving relevant sms, I guess the system can match what you are interested in base don your profile, your listed interests and any topics that you have actually viewed before.

Unsubscribing should be easy. You can turn off sms notifications in your profile.

Will you have stores that will offer an affiliate commission, if one of your friends buys their product(s)?

isn't this how Craiglist got its start? Maybe not deals, but events and such, right? Think through it more, I think you're on to something.

Youtube started out as a failed dating site. Maybe this one has legs. I can see it now, "the founders of failed startup sharedeals closes 30 million dollar series A round for it's new OS based upon logistical data consolidation as outlined by Dr. Spock" In all truthfulness, I piss off enough friends just yammering on about my new this, that or the other without sending them tedious text messages.
