The Elevator Pitch

For all who fear killer bees the killer bee website is a site that is devoted to killer bees. Unlike other websites that hardy cover killer bees our product is devoted to them entirely.

The Idea

Killer Bees -- Africanized Honey Bees (AHB) -- Africanized Bees
I have noticed that there is no sole website devoted to just killer bees. I have searched Google, Ask, Yahoo!, and have yet to find a website dedicated to them entirely.

We should develop a website specifically on the killer bees: There History, News About Them, Maps, Attack Stories, How to Survive Attack Tips, etc...

This must be a highly searched term, it would be a goldmine of an opportunity to snatch up the top pagerank with a high quality website. Also, news media loves to do stories about killer bees, they might even refer people to our site.

There are tons of people that fear killer bees, and bees in general. There are also a lot of students that do school reports on them. This would be a public service to the citizens of the world.

Q: Where is the money... honey?
A: The same as basically 99% of the web advertisements or merchandise.

Q: Is this going to have social networking?
A: I was not thinking really about adding social networking. There are all ready a lot of social networking sites.

Q: Are there any other sites about killer bees?
A: Surprisingly the answer is no. I have searched Google, Ask, Yahoo!, etc... and have yet to find a website dedicated to them entirely. I have seen sites with a small bit about killer bees or a brief news mention about killer bees. However no site is dedicated to just killer bees.

Q: So, just about killer bees?
A: My proposal is to make a site all entirely dedicated to killer bees. I don't understand why people want to complicate things. Simplify, Simplify, Simplify...

Q: Will this limit the amount of content?
A: Yes, but it will drastically increase the relevance. This site will be the ultimate website with a wealth of information entirely dedicated to the topic.

Q: Is there interest on the topic.
A: There seems to be a lot of interest on the topic. I have seen several entire nature films just about killer bees. The search term appears to be of high value. Personally I have been looking around all over the web with multiple search engines. I know the term Killer Bee and Killer Bees have been popular as far as hits.

Q: Will this site borrow content or scrape content from other sites?
A: No I am not about to commit copyright infringement. I have my standards.

"There are all ready a lot of social networking sites."
Yes, but you don't have to be[e] a social network yourself to "play along." Your site could have a bee character that goes around biting people or be[e] used as an agent to fight the FaceBook zom[bees]...

ooper, do killer bees bite as well?

Rich2809
Rich2809 Posted: January 2, 2008, 7:01 am

I have asked in my office, called friends, emailed everyone I know. None of them have the slightest interest in Killer Bees.

Could that be why there is not a 'dedicated' site

I dunno if its me or I age much after few days but I thought this idea was submitted already before by the same author...is this a new way of page cleansing to conceal the previous crowdsourced opinions?

I maybe wrong but am not yet voting until I got the answer.

btw there is beesource.com that I think done enough:

http://www.beesource...ticle/azrepublic.htm

and some helpful web page that are free:

Admittedly the 146,000 hits are relatively small

against 672,000 hits for the word killer ideas.

or 268,000 for Killer ants...

Q:Is there an interest of the topic
My Opinion: Do we need a Nielsen survey to check how it faired even in National Geography or Discovery Channel?

"Q: Will this site borrow content or scrape content from other sites?
A: No I am not about to commit copyright infringement. I have my standards."

What standards? can you provide different content even for the initial period of a dedicated site without authoritative source?(which probably gave their expert opinion in some research?)

A highly specialized website. How about adding other natural "threats" and tracking them as well. Again, the killer bee issue is fairly slow moving, now that they are in the southern US. Their ability to adapt to the colder climates will take longer, as the cross-breeding with honey bees will result in more deaths of the cross-bred bees initially.

"killer bees bite as well?" Bees have proboscis so if they did "bit" it would actually be more of a piercing. There direct method of attack is to sting.

"is this a new way of page cleansing to conceal the previous crowd sourced opinions?" No, feel free to look at the old one.

I simply revamped my idea by answering everything first hand. Because before there was like 40+ posts and people always asked me the same questions. Because most people seem to skip over the comments.

As to the links posted CG_EOL, there is hardly anything about killer bees. They only have an article about them thats it. I think there should be something more. Because there is a lot more about them then that.

As far as hits what are you taking that data from? I only ask because there are several ways of measuring keywords. They don't always use the same type of data. According to the Google search trends it seems to have a moderate amount of searches.

"Do we need a Nielsen survey" That would be interesting if you can find any. I would like to look at it.

On a side note, "killer bees" are not the only bees that can kill. This is about all bees that can kill.

Also, next time guys how about posting just one post instead of posting multiple times.

"For all who fear killer bees" - how limited is this population?

Kevin_Cox
Kevin_Cox Posted: January 2, 2008, 7:18 pm

That was more of a joke then a serious statement.

I don't think this idea will fly. The initial buzz will die off quickly.

But seriously,

Honey bees are declining world wide, due to some diseases. There are some important research efforts to stop and reverse this. Many flowering plants will become extinct after the bees, as there is no substitute for their pollination functions.

"The initial buzz will die off quickly."
Ha ha, nice bee critique.

Well, I don't think of it as a internet bubble site. I was thinking something more like a information site.

I think its worth a shot !

As they say" Its an ill wind, that does not blow someone, some good"

The downside is that it may just tick over?

The upside is that you get a "Killer Bee " scare ?

Kevin, sounds like public service and high ranking is at the top of your list. I have doubts whether this is good enough reason to create a site.

That said, to support the effort you can collect donations. Some people would swear by these, which are non-taxable --but probably none-deductible. In this case, you should focus your efforts in seeking authoritative content on saving someone's day to make it compelling enough to contribute.

This may be your best bet as I don't see ad revenues being sustainable given the limited subject line.

Best of luck!

This comes down to marketing- if it was marketed as a fear-based notion, with some build to it- then it might but to what end?
