The Idea

A web-based Poker Tournament and League director. The tournament director piece will track the players, blind level, time-remaining, and miscellaneous statistics. It must have a simple and intuitive interface for setting up a new tournament, adding and removing players, and setting chip values. It should be flexible enough to allow on-the-fly adjustments of tournament settings to account for unforseen changes. Real-time statistics should be available remotely via some web-based interface (e.g. an RSS feed, Web Service, or even just a dynamic webpage). The League director piece will track players statistics over multiple tournaments and cash games. It will assign points or ranks in a customizable manner. Players will be able to sign up for and volunteer to host games.

I thought of this idea when I was...

I've been thinking of this idea for quite some time. I've never found a Tournament Director that has all of the features that I want.

I love this idea. I play in a regular garage league, and a site like this would be greatly valued.

The site could also assist in game scheduling - a when/where/who calender that exports to ical.

It could also run a mailman list for sending emails out to everyone in the league. Too often we have forgot to include someone in emails leading up to a game.

Make it fun - post snapshots of the grinning winner of each game. Include stats like number of beverages consumed, etc.

Most importantly, the money. Rather than buy-in with cash at the game, why not do it electronically? Using paypal or something similar, the site could keep track of who has bought in and who as re-bought in. Keep track of total winnings to date, etc. Distribute winnings. Put aside a skim from the pot for the final tournament game, etc. This could also be how the site makes money. Skim 5% of the pot for this excellent poker service - the guys won't mind!
