The very premise of the site causes it to attract a community made up of smart creative people with very few trolls. The signal-to-noise ratio is extremely high on this site, and that's no small feat on the internet today

The Idea

High-end drive-through with a target market comprising executives, professionals, and all-round busy individuals. Instead of fast food, the drive-through would contain high-quality products that people can quickly pick up as they're on their way to dinner parties and client events. Items would include high-quality desserts (cakes, cookies, etc.), chocolates, wines, scotches, floral arrangements, and small gift baskets with assorted high-end products. It would be centrally located near a busy road (such as McLeod Trail). The size of the business would be very small, as products would be delivered nightly. The business would only require one or two people working at a time, so a large amount of space would not be required.

I thought of this idea when I was...

I think of this every time I'm racing to a dinner party or event to which I don't want to show up empty-handed.

Seems like a local thing. Shops likle that exist already in my hometown (the Hague, Netherlands).
Why would you be successfull?

The reason I think this idea would be successful in Calgary (where I live) is that we currently are experiencing a booming economy. Many companies are re-locating their head offices to this city. I believe this city comprises a high ratio of "white collar" workers, as opposed to "blue collar". Etc.

Of course, I have not done the research -- this is very much in the idea stage. I did a business plan for it about eight years ago, but it would need to be re-worked.

Thanks for the feedback.

This isn't a web site. This would be an actual location on a busy, well-traveled road.

Make agreements with high-class/high-volume 24 hour petrol-stations to hire a corner or some of their shelves and find out what uncles late for a childs birthday party need. Also as you say what biz-people would like to quickly get. It could even be automates?

I think the drive through might need to be rethought. If they are "high class" they have cell phones and can call ahead and have their order brought out.

If they are too busy to pickup something, maybe they should skip the party and stay home and rest...

BTW, they have something like that where I live, though not as high end... it is called a 24 hour Walmart.

I still voted you up because I think it could make money, but not the kind of income explosion others opportunities can offer.
