The Cambrian House Crew
Cambrianhouse has inspired me to become more professional and study a whole lot of new things, so now I am a lot more skilled and I think I may have landed a killer job at Electronic Arts, probably thanks to the mention of GwabsCory Ross
Cambrian House began as a crowdsourcing community using a wisdom of crowds based approach to discover new business and technology ideas. These pages are being kept online as a technology demo to showcase Chaordix™.

A portal where acting, singing, et cetera talent could be reviewed by talent scouts, directors, music producers, et cetera. Scripts and specific competitions to demonstrate talent(s) would be on the site, and a prospective talent could develop and submit a video/audio submission to be reviewed. The site would have classifications for level/experience, could have public forums for suggestions/coaching/voting, and would require a membership fee so that it was not deluged with pranksters, et al.
Being tormented as my girlfriend watched American Idol.
Like an on-line Idol. Why not? Good idea.
And people could make names for themselves as being worthy critics as well.
Go for it.

I just read this idea from someone else a few minutes ago! I am not sure who it was thought. Maybe you guys should try to work together. I think it is a great idea. But it will need alot of policeing on the web site.. How do you plan to make money?
In a sense isn't YouTube already a talent review? I mean the individual videos could be better tagged and organized. But if you're a talent scout I'd think you could already dive into the world of YouTube content.
I should have followed thru with that thought. Maybe, all that is needed is a way for people to submit their YouTube content to a contest site. If there's a competition for best acting (say) people could submit their favorite video (not even of their creation) to that category. So the video submitted by most people for a category wins. Anyhoo just a thought.
-13 for this idea? Where is the problem with it? It's not that bad!
gordon, i wouldn't see it as an open talent competition, where people could just post what they had on youtube for example. the idea would be to have specific scripts, demonstrations of talent (eg play/sing this song this way, develop video of 'x', et al), et cetera so that people could be judged against each other more easily, as well as to not have to sift through random content.
I'm not too excited about this one. I don't think it would be that interesting to watch and vote on a bunch of actors reading the same scene. Talent would only put together submissions if there were good prizes - either money or an audition for a famous director or agent or something like that. But if you did get some big names on board, you could get talent to pay to participate. You have to remember, people in that business are on high scam alert, so getting them to part with money won't be that easy. Is that your only revenue model?

You should generalize this for all talent.. technology recruiting has paid off big for monster and the likes.
