The Idea

Nothing can seem to be a strange idea.

This idea is about turning your self off. Allot of us (and the overworked brains at CH) can't seem to shutdown. This application would be dedicated to tell you when it would be a good time to do NOTHING. It could be hooked up to your calender or you agenda, this would help the software to determine when is the best time to turn your self off. This app could be on PC, cellphone, PDA, etc.

It would help a lot of us have better health and life.

I thought of this idea when I was...

Ready many ideas on CH

Actually somebody made a program that does exactly that: nothing!
I fully agree Moogy, our brains didn't evolve to become web junkies. You need time to do nothing to let your brain rest.

There's a Mac app called TimeOut that reminds you when to take a break. (http://www.dejal.com/timeout/). Is this what you mean?

Moogy,
Check for inspiration: http://workpace.com/.
This program is used a lot in the Netherlands.
It's to prevent RSI, but can be used to do the same.

All these web site you have sent me are computer related.

My idea was more base on an agent still with type of activities.
They are not rely the core of my idea.

I'm impress on how much my idea was voted down in 1 day.
I submit ideas for the comments and not the prize.. ;)

Setting up reminders in a calendar is fairly easy.

Perhaps a way of achieving your objective, which is a good one, would be to have a subscriber sign up for a stream of reminders on whatever schedule they like. It could be random, or every 12 hours, or at 10 a.m. every Tuesday, anything they choose.

Then the reminders could be plain (TAKE A BREAK) or "surprise" or themed.

For "surprise" there would be a great oppty to crowdsource ideas just like Starbucks uses people's jottings on their coffee cups, and Jones Soda uses customers' photographs on their labels.

For themed ideas, the themes might be related to health and contain specific eye, hand, body health reminders.

Or the user could customize their own reminders. If your system was more streamlined than Microsoft Outlook's calendar, it might become more popular for this particular use.

There would be oppties to have advertising in the reminders - perhaps a subscriber could have the free version, with ads, or the premium version where they pay but it's ad-free.

Lots of room here for people to contribute content.

Good luck ;-)

When words have less value than silence, say nothing.
When actions have less value than simply watching, do nothing.

Let's value nothing. Nothing is worth something.

This idea is fine. Its about time we all did a whole lot more nothing.
Or should that be a whole loss less of anything?

I am voting for this idea and then I may well do nothing for a while.
