Not freeish. Not freesque. It's free!
For Artists who wish to distribute some of their art for free the torrent fix idea is a online repository, and the basic principle is that we encourage all artists to make some of their work available for free that in turn would lead the public to purchase media and MERCHANDISE related to that artist. If the public likes what they listen to for free they can go to our website to buy the media and Merchandise of their choice. Full length albums would be sold too. Unlike Recording companies who amass a fortune when the cost of manufacturing the cd from end to end is less than 50 cent our product will keep production costs down, make free content available to the public and provide content sharing to the artists. By cutting the middle man, more revenue can be transferred over to the artists.
the idea is very simple. You give the user a little and they will come for more if they like it. if this can work for a bakery, then why not the recording industry. ------------------ A startup that encourages artists/recording companies to share content *for free* using p2p ----------------- 2 or 3 songs from every artists are made available for free using this website. users can use these how they deem fit. (pc, ipod) If they like it, they can keep it for free for 40 days (after that the song will expire/delete themselves automatically). ---chr() not sure how this will be incorporated. but where there is a will, there is a way. Subsequently if the user likes the artist, they can buy the full album for a reduced price than a conventional cd sold on the store.
Listening to the Cranberries and then Ravi Shankar (downloaded p2p) and then I went to the store and bought their cd's. Thankfully I live in Canada, so I am not worried about disclosing the information that I quotdownloadquot using p2p
I like the idea but it would seem that the competition would be fairly steep and entrenched, no?
Empirical evidence ("Felix Oberholzer-Gee" study) suggests that file sharing actually promotes sales. [a]
I wish the music industry smartens up. Then ideas like these can benefit everyone.

You are right, there is a fair bit of competition in the market.
I have to re-edit this idea. and make it work in conjunction with 4 different ideas (3 others of mine + 1 of digiterata)
Hopefully we can present something out on CH soon.
