A prince who is not himself wise cannot be wisely advised: good advice depends on the shrewdness of the prince who seeks it.

The Idea

Build a site where people can submit requests for products and services they are interested in buying. Whether it is a new mobile phone, a new car, a wireless network, a spam filter, or even a training course or mortgage. People enter their specific requests and requirements and like Yahoo answers, the crowds review the requirements and supply their recommendations. The crowds then vote on the quality of the answers and thus help the original poster to choose from the range of solutions. When the person chooses a solution, the original poster and the person who wrote the answer share in an affiliate payment / share of advertising revenue / loyalty points etc Site makes money from affiliate payments/ advertising revenue/ building a high volume high values site / selling related services for people just searching etc.

I thought of this idea when I was...

Looking at my "shop assistant" idea and trying to figure out a manual way of doing the same thing.

Not a bad idea ( cause I had a similar one some months ago -))

This also looks like the Ebay "Want it now" ( http://pages.ebay.com/wantitnow/ ) and "Ewanted" service (http://www.ewanted.com/ ).

These sites are a goldmine for sellers as you get an immediate insight to market demand. However, Ebay only allows to response with offers through Ebay. This lacks opportunity for people that would like to act as "information providers", people that now where to find the best buy ( price/quality ratio ).

This idea gives people the opportunity to make money by providing information, thus acting as a middle person + sellers could still offer there products directly.

Well, you are forgetting the fact that 60% of the time we go to the store and think what to buy. So, your idea is more suited for high value items rather than day to day purchases.
