Legal Services Croudsourcing

The Idea

Using croudsourcing software to create a website where attorneys can post their services by field and potential clients can hire them by project or by the hour.
Lawyers can set their own rates and get reccomendations much like in linkedin. They can also write papers and update members with relevant information.
Attorneys would get another source of income b doing work on the side and customers would benefit from cheaper rates and a greater choice of lawyers with more transparency.

I thought of this idea when I was...

Thinking about how lawyers are in many cases overpaid and customers have little choice in many cases.

interesting idea..lawyers are not that tech savvy and so are doctors..i had a similar idea to match doctors with patients online..

How would the crowdsourcing drive down legal services rates?

I can see potential benefit for the clients, however, all the lawyers I know are interested in reducing their workload (they have too many clients). This may be a local phenomenon (NYC), but it wouldn't hurt to run the idea past a few lawyers.

what if it was combined in some way with a way accountants, lawyers, doctors etc. could do "pro-bono" work (government-registered and approved)?? (tax advantage or whatever it is for them being the incentive)? Perhaps also give opportunity to students to gain experience, offering student services for simple issues much cheaper to the normal person????

In this case, are you assuming that all lawyers are of the same standard?

I would think that the price differentials occur because of a few factors, e.g. Track record of the law firm in a certain field, say, criminal, tax etc. Therefore, people are willing to pay the premium.

Also, lowest price may not always guarantee quality work. What if the law firm was not reputable or lacked integrity and therefore has a lot of slack? Wouldn't it mean that their lawyers had more time and may be found on this website?
