The Idea

The basic idea is to create a little IM software that could share your funny files (pps, jpeg, avis, html links, etc.) with your friends when they want to see them. A user would share funny files in his or her account. All the users link to that person would have a notice that this person has a new funny to share. Then they can bowser the other person's funnies and select what they want and download it. The funnies would categorized by type and (image, video, slideshow, etc.). User would also be able to rate the funnies and classify them (for all, adult, pg13 etc.) The software could hookup to servers and rss feeds where you could find content. The revenues would come from spore that would post funny content or pay for advertising. This could reduce the amount of emails flowing on the Internet and also permit user to look at funnies when they want to.

I thought of this idea when I was...

Getting 15 funny email at work with 2 of them with adult content.

From a Systems Admins point of view I hate it but I can see a lot of people installing it because that is what computer users like to do. It would have a hard time spreading though, it is, at its heart a IM program and people already have a ton of things like that, it is one more item in your sys tray.

I agree with Rafar

as for your message, pertaining IM or RSS. You have to keep one thing in mind. You will be offering this as an alternate IM program. Because as my knowledge of IM clients is concerned, the two big players (yahoo and microsoft) do not allow add-on's to be installed on top of their applications.

Since this will be "yet another IM client" , I will go back to what Rafar said. So you really have to assess how many people out there are going to install it based on the fact that it allows you to share each other's "funny videos and pix"

Trillian, warrior msn (mess.be) offered/offers some added functionality over the traditional clients. And it hasnt cracked a significant % (as far as I know) in the past 6-7 yrs that it has been out.

Actually it will reduce spam because your network it a local one.
So if someone think something is a spam he will not share it.
The main website will control the submitted content. This controls spam also.
