Crowdsourcing gives me that opportunity to support my diversity of interests. It keeps me alive with new challenges and interesting projects. Can't get much better than that can you? Oh yeah, and what's my risk? Time. I personally call it play time.

The Elevator Pitch

For People who want to tell the world where they have been on the globe the shotcode is a barcode sticker which other people can buy and stick on some nice places that you can make a picture off with your mobile. On the website a worldmap you can see where you have realy been.. Unlike Just making photo's of the places you where. Or using graffitti to say I was here! our product will tell the world you realy was there and you can see who was there ever been more!.

The Idea

People can make photo shots with their mobile of shotcodes (a round barcode which you can get on www.shotcodes.com)which other people will have sticked on some nice sightseeings and places to be. The places where those stickers are can be viewed on a GoogleMap. Now when you make a photoshot of the shotcode you can tell the world you was there, because a link will automaticallly placed on the map together with some nice other photo's. Also great to organize walking trips and ask question on the way. Runners can measure the time between two shotcodes and show others how fast they where.
ShootTheWorld Stickers will be found over the whole world. People have to buy the shotcodes, (2 euro) But they can earn the investment back, when someone make a shot of a sticker some money will go to the shootsticker. We can also ask some money for closed groups. Groups who want to have a private search trip.

I thought of this idea when I was...

While we worked on the idea of the worldrun, we where afraid to get not every where permission to run through streets. Now, with the "I was here stickers", everybody can run when ever he want, though make a photo shot of the stickers will approve you was realy there. On a website you can see where the shootcodes are. A lot of people will place the sticker for example on a shopping window. Now afcourse we can record the time between the shotcodes as well:-)Further ever seen al thos names on toilet doors? Stick a I shoot here sticker on the door and you let the people make a photoshot. Have fun and tell the world you was there as well.

Well I'm not going to see every public toilet for stickers, but I'm sure if you can do this for the 15-25 year old it can be big fun.

Perhaps the stickers could use easily removable, biodegradable glue and ink and other materials which were used for manufacturing.

I could see a string of spoofed pictures. Photo Shop junkies will be happy to have another photo situation to fake....

Someone might duplicate the stickers and fake their own presence at a given location. Uh... I'm not sure I'd use this myself, but if someone else would, then someone else might game it.

Yes could be! The crowd will correct the place where the sticker realy will be. Every sticker is unique! You have to buy the stickers and you can earn moneu back when other people shoot the stickers. So it will be easy to organise a trip and fun to shoot all the shotcodes on the world. When you have a bar... I should definatly stick a shotcode on the bar;-) And when it's stolen, I should buy an other one and stick one on the bar again :-) Shoot it and you tell the world you was there!

This has all ready been done for mobile phones. I have seen mobile bar codes before. Also, I don't think many people would used the service you are talking about.

Ok, I have to admit I didn't really understand this until I went to the shotcode website. Now I'm very intrigued. I think there is a lot of potential here, you just don't have the market spelled out clearly yet. Maybe we as a group could help do that.

Could be! But don't think related yet to a GoogleMap! Yes afcourse GPS and http://www.farcast.nl But combination of shotcode, GoogleMap is not there yet.

Will be challenge to get Kevin_Cox Shooting. Understand you are able to make money when other people shoot your code and there are nice advertisements on the mobile you can sale.

When you ever in Amsterdam and you see a shotcode, shoot just one, you will get some nice information about the heighborhood, maybe a free cup of coffee somewhere? And you are able to connect some other nice people. After your first shoot you will have such fun that you search directly the other shotcodes which you can find on your mobile.

Want to learn more about AMsterdam, a great time and nice connections? Shoot the World!

Mobile codes (AKA Quick Response or QR codes) is not a new idea. 2D barcode formats that can be decoded by a mobile have been around for a while. They are also dirt and damage resistant unlike this idea.

Here are a links to a few site:

There has also been a firefox addon to make a barcode for any site free!

Overall, why would I use this if I can use the better version that has more support worldwide, can accommodate more codes, can use a smaller printout size and is free?

Goosie Posted: November 1, 2007, 1:12 pm

Hé thanks afcourse we could hook in those barcode experts as well. It's definatly not my opinion to launch a barcode concept. I want launch a concept where people can have fun. Great to use those technologies combined with a nice GoogleMap we can help those barcode techies to launch their system. Do you know more barcode readers? Let's hook them in all!

Goosie
Goosie Posted: November 1, 2007, 3:51 pm

Researched all the links of Kevin_Cox. No of those barcode readers has a merge with a GoogleMap. Shoot the world will help them. People can choose what kind of sticker they will use. We should launch this fast, idea is good and easy to launch. What a pitty I have so much other things todo, who will help to launch this? We need:
- A website where people can create and request shotcodes with all of the above partners.
- Explain them they have to stiock the barcodes in there neighborghood on a nice trip to follow or place to be and on the worldmap. Tell the world they should follow those great places to be and why. Make deals with entrepreneurs on the places to be, sell advertisements etc..
- On the website options to define what the people will get back on their mobile when they shoot one of the barcodes (again does not matter what kind of shotcode they use for me).
- Make some quizes and games along the road the first who has shoot 10 codes will win a nice price of one of the sponsors. We can also organize datings. For example... I will shoot this code on this nice tree tomorrow arrond 16:00 like to meet me:-) Be there!:-)

Have fun!
