The Idea

I started this free online weightloss newsletter in August of 2006. I sent a 7 page newsletter to 10 friends. I now send a 20+ page newsletter to over 300 friends. My newsletter has become popular because the stories, ideas, inspiration, humor and recipes come from my subscribers.
We will send out our 1 year anniversary issue in August of this year. It's proven to be a lot of fun.

I thought of this idea when I was...

I thought of this idea while attending meetings for a paid weightloss program and after seeing their printed material, felt I could do a better job. My subscribers have sent me several letters of praise thanking me for the best weightloss newsletter, ever!

Hi Cojan
Are you planning a blog or a website to support this newsletter?

What are you hoping to gain by posting this to CH? Are you planning to expand this and looking for people's help, or just using this as free advertising space?

I'm intrigued by the site, I seem to be one of only a handful who actually has a product to go along with the sales pitch.

Vanhees-I have a website for the newsletter, you are welcome to visit and sign the guestbook;
http://www.freewebs.com/thepoundpulpit

and the reason for posting here is simply to invite others to join.

Since your idea is already up and running, and you aren't asking for input, I guess this isn't so much an "idea" in the IdeaWarz sense, but an invitation, which some would see as an ad.

The reason very few people have products fully developed is b/c the idea of CH is to develop the products via the crowd, not bring the products to the crowd fully formed.

Hope that makes sense. Thanks for telling us about your product, but don't be offended if it doesn't get a high vote - you aren't asking for crowd input so even if this idea won, it would be kind of a moot victory.

I'll take a moot victory. :)

I was thinking that others could view my newsletter and five me ideas on how to improve it, I guess I didn't make that clear.

I think you should put this into the Businesses section if you want people to collaborate with you, or into the Bazaar if you want feedback.

It is fair game to ask for feedback; people can decide whether or not they want to give you any! But when the idea is already in production, it may work better if you go the Bazaar route. (BTW I have no idea what response you will get.)

Those are my thoughts on the question of where an up and running business fits into the scheme of things here. I don't know if others will agree with me or not; it will be interesting to find out.

partially because some don't care

and partially because this isn't where ads go

Cojan1, could you please make this idea private? It looks like its promoting an existing product rather then trying to get a new business or idea off the ground. Thanks.
