The Idea

How hard are some people to buy for??? Everyone knows you can buy subscriptions for magazines as gifts but what about giving someone a gift of choosing a brand new bestselling book each month. Basically you would have a website and brochure - like well known book clubs and the person who receives the gift subscription (exactly like the ones in whsmiths etc..) would ring/go online to activate the subscription. They can then choose the first book online or from the brochure that will been sent to them monthly, they then get a choice of books each month fully paid for over the year. You could charge around ?70 for the annual subscription for paper back books and more for hard back books - obviously enough to make a profit on each book but not overpricing ridiculously! I haven"t seen any sites similar and feel that this would be very popular as a gift choice with readers. Not sure if there are any similar gift sites for CD"s/DVD"s other than clubs

I thought of this idea when I was...

Trying to find a gift for my Grandmothers birthday - she"s not really into magazines but loves books and sometimes can"t make it to the library so to get a book of her choice delivered each month paid for by me would be a fantastic gift. Might be something similar out there but I couldn"t find it when searching.

This is an amazing idea if you would be able to market it right and to enough people (get slashdotted or something =P). I think tons of people would go for this.
