The Elevator Pitch

For anyone with a limited budget who isn't sure what to do for an evening. Particularly if you are traveling the What To Do Tonight? website is a country wide solution that makes suggestions, based on input information. Unlike static websites that are mostly commercial our product takes date/time, budget, and taste info and returns suggestions collected from locals.

The Idea

Have you and your significant other, or friends been faced with the question: what do we do tonight that would fit our location, date/time, budget and taste?

The idea adds the ability to input just enough information to find out what activities are recommended by others that would answer the question above.

I thought of this idea when I was...

This idea came from my daughter and her husband who are starting out and have a limited budget.

There are so many local websites of tows and even villages.
What do you want to add to that?

vanhees,

Thanks for the comment.

Besides static information on local restaurants, and so forth, I've never seen websites that provides a way to figure out, under a budget what a couple or an individual can do a particular evening.

isn't it reaching the limit when one tries to figure out what to do in his or her locality?

Ooper, ok I understand that, but how are you going to get the content?
I mean, to make thewebsite is easy enough..

As Tommy says, making a website is no magical thing - what'll make or break you is the content you have and the algorithm you use to process your data and make a match. Until you have - or can show us how you'll get - both of these, this idea still needs work.

I don't see myself using this... I would just do a google search to find what I need.

And here's a wild idea... I would just get out into the city and explore and I would just try to stumble on something interesting. A walk in a new city can be entertaining enough and there is sure to be some small little restaurant, (that may not even have a website) some kind of little mom and pop restaurant that is going to have great food and atmosphere. (I LOVE the little mom and pop restaurants... they stay open because they have great food and make you feel welcome)

So I don't know, maybe I am weird, but if I don't know what to do I just get out and about and find something to do. There are always new things to discover, even if you have lived in a city for years.

I feel this is a massively over-saturated market.

I actually like the idea. I'd summarize it as a local / city search site with a more innovative search function. The key part seems to be getting enough good content, or making the site easy enough for people to submit content.

It will be kind of like the 'Reverse Cookbook' idea submitted before. For example:

I'm at X address.
Willing to drive 10 miles out
Have $20 budget

Show me what's happening around the area...

Echen,

Thanks for your comment. Your idea is well received. You got the last word.

I guess I'll have to do something, especially after the fact that it was this week's Blue favorite :)
