The Idea

Many sites display the same old sports stats. For instance, in basketball there is minutes played, points scored, shooting percentage, rebounds, etc. But what if you want to know which player has the highest points scored per minute played where minutes played per game is greater than 10? Stats Mashup lets anybody generate there own stats display by filling in a simple form. It lets people share the stats they have created and promotes the most popular ones to the default listing for each sport.

I thought of this idea when I was...

Looking at hockey stats and wondering which team had the highest points won per game rather than their total points. Since each team has played a different number of games, this matters.

I would definitely love a site like this. I'm a big stats guy, but I can never find a place to get stats in a raw form (especially for past seasons). And it sounds pretty easy to implement. The site would have to have a HUGE database of box scores along with a way to keep the database updated, but once you have that, it would be pretty easy to calculate custom stats.
