The Idea

Scenario: u r shopping and find an item u really like but the price is 2 high. Using your iPhone's camera u upload a picture of the item to an quotobject search enginequot such as Like.com. The search engine returns a list of similar items available in your local shopping area, along with current prices and availability. It may turn out there is an exact same item just down the mall at another store, so it just saved u a lot of time.

I thought of this idea when I was...

I hate it when I find what I'm looking for but they don't have my size, so I don't know where else I could find the item. I also hate it when I buy an item and later find out the same item was on sale at the next store over. If only I had known at the time I was shopping.

Honestly telling this idea is already avalible in the UK market. This is a good idea actually.

You do not need to browse arond just to find the product you want. With the phone you can find the location of the product you want in the supermarket. It's convenience. You can add this to your idea. Consumers just need to have an account and they could key in their shopping list in the internet.

The main probelm is not all stores are willing to invest money on this kind of thing.

It's not cheap and not all consumers like that. Most house makes aren't computer savy.

//Honestly telling this idea is already avalible in the UK market.//

how is this idea available in the UK market, let alone anywhere?

object/facial recognition combined with search has not been commercialized yet.

however like I mentioned above ---> Google acquiring such firms which specialize in these pertinent fields sort of hints at what the future of the search is. Humans, well a significant majority of them prefer images over text.

future of search seems visual.
