The Idea

Taking animal shelters national !! I think the statistic for euthanizing animals at animal shelters nationwide is 3?4 million (HSUS estimate). This project would create a site with a current database of animals at animal shelters (they would provide the pictures and content). The animal shelters have incentive to post because they have more people looking at their animals, the project get revenue from advertisers (think pet products) and the users of the site get to browse pets at the local shelter online and the lucky ones will save an animal and gain a new pet. The site will be slick looking (Web 2.0 feel) and will hopefully save a few more animals from an unnatural end.

I thought of this idea when I was...

saw the stat of 3-4 million animals being euthanized in US every year

I thought that Euthanasia was an option that people chose as an option of their own free will.
I am fairly sure that when somebody or something's life is ended other than at their own instigation, it is called KILLING.....

how strange - i'm sure i commented on this one. possibly a glitch at my end, internet was a bit erratic yesterday.

i like it. it would be doing a service to people who would rather save pets than run websites. i think it would attract advertising from pet food, pet supplies, etc.

most of the effort in this one comes in making it widely known and getting people to use it.

go for it!
