This idea is a really simple web service that allows you to upload a bunch of pictures and an mp3 of your favorite song. The webpage then produces a video file of all the pictures with the music playing in the background. You could also allow users to add a title or messages in between certain pictures. It might also be well to allow them to upload video files and pictures and the web application will merge them into one video file set to their chosen music. Then, you could hold contests to see who can create the best video. Ways to generate revenue: -Charge for the creation of the video file -Charge for enhanced features(transistions, blackandwhite, etc) -Take a percentage off selling the music for the video -Charge to host the video file so they can send a link to the video to friends and family -Advertising You could even sell this as a gift that can be sent using Prezzle. This is similar to Windows Movie Maker, but much simpler so anyone can do it on the web.
I've made a number of birthday presents, anniversary presents, wedding videos like this and people loved what I created and were so impressed with my skill. However, it's really a simple process to put pictures to music. However, even Windows Movie Maker is to complicated for most people. Not to mention they don't know it's possible.
There are desktop applications that are free that handle the main portion of this idea (using pictures with music to make a movie). The main example is microsoft photostory 3. The only thing left is hosting ETC.
It's true that desktop applications can handle most of it, but people don't know about most of those applications and are afraid to use them. However, they aren't afraid to upload some pictures to a website. They do that all the time in sending pictures in email or getting them developed.
Oh come on man, Windows Movie Maker comes with it, and this kind of stuff is ridiculously easy on a Mac. If people aren't savvy enough to know about how to use Windows Movie Maker, then they certainly aren't going to pay money to use some complicated website (and yes, I assure you, it would be complicated).
Good idea techguy. Without prior knowledge, I recently uploaded something similar called "graph-of life". Both ideas are similar in that they allow users to create public (or private) slideshows with their pictures. Yours incorporates music (very good idea) where is more focused on the chronology of a person or object (one's life). Good stuff.
Is there not something like this that can be done on myspace. My brother posted about 120 pictures of the katrina devastation and put Pantera's cemetery gates to it. albeit that you may not be able to see these except in myspace, but this would mean that all that has to be done is to make it available outside of myspace and a save as command. But hey if can do it then do it people would buy it yes but I do not think they would pay for the service.
