For kids of all ages who need to better their math skills the math for kids idea is a web based software that develops mathematical skills using various techniques. Unlike sugar-coated-math-learning softwares our product will give a time limit to the students and make them perform math exercises as if it was a drill. Math should not be sugar coated in most cases.
Setup an online repository **Where kids will practice math for 15 minutes everyday ** i.e online and after school - kids who do not have a computer can use computer lab, after school. or are provided with subsidized computers/net connections (I have ideas for this too) - the amount of time increments by a minute every week - alternate between quick math and the not-so quick math (Firing neurons = brain age type vs provoke analytical thinking) Kids who score higher are rewarded and their achievements highlighted. Kids who score lower are helped by their peers, teachers and mentors.
I have been thinking about this something like this for a while now. (on and off) North America has a depreciating rate of S&T graduates. It stems from lower SAT scores http://tinyurl.com/oys6g It can only be attributed to how we teach Math to our kids, just stinks, plain and simple. You cannot sugar coat math in every scenario. Sometimes it just has to be drilled into you. China is producing 100,000 engineers every yr and we are producing more and more Fitness specialist to counter measure that. Partner with the following organization and get this thing rolling: http://mmp.maths.org/index.html http://heymath.net/index.jsp Deliver it from a North American perspective. but dont make it too cute. Drill it in
Hi
I love this idea. why restrict it to north America only?
Yeah, open it up! Cool idea! Have like races like you can get from the Nintendo DS game Brain Age.. :)

I say:
Charity begins at home. and I view North America as one big entity. If the United States gets affected by anything, Canada gets affected. And Canada is the place I call home.
Success in one country can be replicated in another. But the main reason, like I mentioned is falling S&T graduates in the United States...which I think is a big big issue. If we fail to innovate, we loose our technological acumen.
Again to answer your question why north America only ---> again I would say Charity begins at home and good people everywhere must be given a chance

you and i are on the same page. this is exactly what i meant when i referred to "Firing neurons = brain age type "
thanks man!
Digiterata has taught me that "focus" is key:
Hence, if the idea is implemented - we should start with 1 or 2 cities and expand if successful
Another key thing is to: --->
+ incorporate this with a gym program.
Brain is not gonna function, when the belly is full of food all the time.

Sweet idea! I worked in a middle school computer lab for a year and would have loved something like this to engage my students. Also, you wouldn't believe how much money the district was willing to pay for exceptionally mediocre software - big market potential here.
anything to make kids smarter is a good idea
