Hello!

You've landed in the archive of the Cambrian House community. We've kept some pages here for posterity but the community is no longer active. Now we market the technology that made our early crowdsourcing a success.

Can we help you get to Cambrian House the company? – Come on over.

The Idea

Allow people to create their own mini-surveys. Each would be time limited and perhaps the respondents could be limited (e.g. those from the UK if the opinion poll is about a UK election). Yougov.com have done this to some extent and broke the mould of opinion surveys by using the internet to have a much bigger survey base than face-to-face companies. This has resulted in them being more accurate. However, I'm suggesting a site where users can submit their own surveys, where the user base is even larger, and where the results are published online. Site would make money by publishing the results to paying people first (e.g. 7 day delay if you don't pay). Site would get publicitity if it starts getting close to the results that professional pollsters get and who would cost significantly more. People who submit surveys get reviewed if others think the survey is good and those with positive rating appear top of the survey list and receive a share of ad revenue.

I thought of this idea when I was...

looking at yougov.com and thinking the concept could be widened out.

As bazdesign mentioned, survey monkey does this. A coworker was doing his PhD work and used it to collect data. Seemed quite simple to use and setup.

Siliconglen, I would love to see you focus on a handful of ideas instead spewing off a laundry list of ideas. I always vote up people who I feel have put in some time and developed their idea a little bit. When you get an idea, write it down right away (with a date....) and go get some dinner or sleep on it. Then post. Life will be smoother that way.
