The Idea

Simply put insert video commercials on a website
Separate the pages and when you click the next button then you are shown a ____ second advertising clip.
It's like inserting commercials into your web browsing experience.
Imagine - you're visiting a site that is about a new movie coming out like a critics page a review page or something. Then when you click next to see the rest of the review or the next review you are taken to a trailor of that movie and it shows you the starting movie times to your local theater with clickable links to buy tickets now OR click here to read the next review.
Or insert any product or service into the equation

I thought of this idea when I was...

I was just thinking of a way to create an in your face marketing approach and that came to mind.

Video ads been done a long time ago.

These are video ads yes but they are put in front of you in a manner in which you are more inclined to see them, as well as, none intrusive. I realize to a certain degree that all ads are intrusive but if it is favorable to what is being done on the site then when you go the next page of reading and are then shown a video(visual) about what you were reading then you are more inclined to pay attention to the video. Also I failed to mention that if this were put on a script of some sort where it is on a "time limit" then you may not always see a video. Goto website blah.com then if you are there reading about a certain product for say 5 minutes and then click, you are now shown a visual stimulant video of what you just read about. I am not new to the Internet and I Know that Video ads have been done I am stating a new way to utilize these in a manner that can not be turned off(yet)

This has been done, with the option to click to skip the advert. Even with that option, it is very annoying.

check out metro.co.uk where people submit their videos and an ad is placed at the beginning of the clip. Every time someone clicks on the video the film maker makes a few pennies.

For the last decade, I've been cursed by dial-up. I curse all web sites that assume I live in a town with cable. I haven't been able to find stats on this, but I am willing to bet my cambros that we outnumber dsl-ers. This kind of thing slows my Internet use to a turtle's crawl and I immediately re-route to another site. And nobody likes ads.

Otherwise, being objective, I say you have a fairly good idea. Wes

I'm sure an ad agency would love to hear the idea, but from a consumer end, it's just annoying. I don't want anymore in my face marketing. I think in and of itself marketing now is in your face...and like noted from others here, quite annoying.
