The idea is to provide a service like a wakeup call at a hotel. This could be a subscription based service that can remind you of birthdays, anniversaries, etc... You can call in a reminder event or just log on online to enter it. When you want to be reminded, an email and or a phone call will go out to you . A low cost subscription fee would enable millions to take advantage. It may even be even a free service that is payed for my advertisers.
I have already registered http://remiders-r-us.com
I was driving when someone called me to remind me that I was supposed to be there already. I had forgotten so I thought of this service that I could call to send me a reminder.
It already exists ( http://www.google.co...rch?q=phone+reminder )

Moreover in most applications I can't see the clear advantage towards using the 'organizer' software now integrated in nearly any phone.

I don't know; I just plug appointments into my Blackberry, set the reminder time and I'm good. Not to mention that Google has an excellent line-up of organizational applications that zip reminders to me. This concept seems similar to: http://www.cambrianh...er/ideas-id/iUMOHUk/
Good point
exists already
Maybe lonsterman should have put a reminder in his calendar to come back and respond to these comments.
PeeJayEl: ok, finding two similar ideas in one week is disappointing, but finding the same 'joke' on both is surely worse!? :-P
PhillipH... natmaka made me do it!!!! :))
done done done....
Many programs can do this and email you, ring a bell...
My Treo seems to have no problem doing this all ready.
I say we have Lonsterman and Jonathan square off to see who can redeem this idea.
