For entrepreneurs who want to find environmentally ways to make money in agriculture the biointensive agriculture coop is a business practice that cuts operating expenses, fossil fuel use, soil depletion, and pollution. Unlike chemical intensive monoculture or organic monoculture our product is productive, energy efficient, and minimally polluting.
Farmers should combine their crops into large collections of mixed plots containing grains, legumes, trees of various sorts, and some livestock. Perhaps there could be several hundred plots the size of tennis courts with five or six food crops mixed up in each one.
Combining efforts like this could solve several problems:
1. The budget required for pesticides and fertilizers - supposedly mixed plots require fewer chemical inputs
2. Fuel and vehicle maintenance - the many small plots of land could be tended and harvested with less equipment.
3. Marketing - selling many crops in small quantities may not be economically viable for the average farmer
The actual product is...consulting on marketing and design
hmm, my memory fails me but as far as I know there are no such operations in existence
I don't see the environmentally part yet
Tommy
I agree with vanhees on this one. You need to elaborate on how you plan to help the environment. You have done a good job explaining the other part, though! =]

similar to corporate farming or factory farming
a little more?
NOt so great...
Well, there is a whole permaculture movement devoted to basically this philosophy, and it is not the only system out there with these objectives.
Your sentiment is great but your idea needs to be significantly more focused to take it further as a business.
But thanks for keeping it green around here ;-)
I didn't understand this.
