The Elevator Pitch

For every home owner and workers who are looking to get in touch the Direct Contractor is a web service that enable the power of the web to come to their aide. Unlike The yellopages or just a web search our product does the job the way it should be done..

The Idea

A construction network hub.

Skilled works join the web site. They post the type of work they do, how much they charge and when they are available.

The clients come to the wed site. Creates their account. Post a job on the web site.

The web site contacts the workers and put them in contact for the job for a fee or a % of the cost.

This is the base of the web site. It can be expanded to a step by step contractor or in to the design side with online designers like you can do with the. Promote product for renovation, etc.

I don't know many contractors in my area that don't break out in a sweat at the thought of going near one.

This isn't precisely what you're suggesting, but there are similarities.

Location is so important for contractors - they need to be near you. Unless you find a way to start out with a bang, someone visiting your website would have lower selection than someone browsing the yellowpages, so contractors and homeowners might ...

Oddly enough, in a way your idea is too efficient. If someone had a full page ad in the yellowpages, they may not be the best contractor, but they're not new or fly by night either, they have money invested. I'm sure you'd be happy to allow people to pay you gobs of money if they wanted, but it might not have the same psychological effect.

agree with joel_carter - a lot of skilled tradesman I know, have 0 or very little computer skills, however the ones that do are getting ahead. Plus they could hire somebody to help manage (or maybe this business idea would manage for them for a fee ;)

The biggest difference is the contracting.

The site would also act as a contractor finding the right people at the right time in the construction sequence.

Finding a person for a job has been done as CraigH demonstrated with the link.
But the site don't act as a contractor would.
