The Elevator Pitch

For For Students -high schoolyear of age- to young professionals(entry level) or anyone with capacity to pay minimal amount daily who Have spare money and willing to remit or load to save on his future or upcoming Birthday(s) the universal BIRTHDAY (pre-paid)CREDIT CARD is a SOLUTION as paperless e-commerce experience that will ease up to finance his/her natal day to treat and spend his annual celebration with either his family, friends or loved one. Unlike regular CREDIT CARD with a lot of hassle and need to established financial standing to get approval this one educates the eventual learned credit card user to spend & save wisely . our product is Pre paid and can be spread in whole year payment to get the targeted amount (say $200). A college student can pay or purchase the load in easy payment scheme. say $18 a month or .60 cent a day! THis Birthday CREDIT Card is convenient & cool!.

The Idea

ITs actually a pre paid credit card. PRepaid, thru Year long substancial remmitances(for students)or Salary deductible to load up an "E-wallet" with the subcriber having his Birthday(Priviledge) card. Renewable per annum basis. A mini "social security card" for the uninitiated(a start up CREDIT CARD for small purchase ergo substantial small credit limit). HE can use it to withdraw cash on accredited Universal banks or as credit card with specific load credits he is updated via SMS onhis Mobile phone or online inquiry on Website. Back up by insurance (in case of death etc.), accredited by restaurants, bars, Supermarkets, CInema,HOtels et al. The card can only be used with in a week where the subscriber bithdhay falls once a year. MArket is for Students upto Earning age (16-30*) or based on subscriber willingness to pay and what can he afford, he or she doesnt have yet legitimate Credit card. Its a good business bec. subscriber will use it once a year.

I thought of this idea when I was...

10 years ago my company gives a free one sack of rice(staple food in asia) for the the birthday celebrant..the guy is happy for the gift... but he doesnt have any spare to give blowout to his own family nor co office workers. Also, seeing some of my friends own dillema to dine out their choice of date specially those in entry level job (who doesnt have credit card) that birthday falls in unwarranted day to share the blessing. It was a pity to have one natal day falls in a cash strap date or worst no spare cash to celebrate .

Saigon, its quite vague but correct me if im wrong about how I understand your point.

I think you don't buy the card for yourself. You rather keep the money in your regular time deposit account.

Instead, you receive it as a gift from your parents or relative or a friend or could be an incentive bonus from your employer? Or maybe a price from a contest? Let's say, your parents wants to give you a gift worth $5,000 and decides that it would be in the form of a card like this. So you will be guranteed that you have $500 to spend in your next 10 birthdays. So its a kind of a pre-need thing like pension? Maybe you will call it birthday insurance card and its a debit card. Or if you want it in credit card, i think it should be a plug-in to existing credit cards. Meaning your credit limit balloons (to accomodate the extra expenses) during your birthday week.

Yea the whole thing sounds a little confusing.

what dose the pitch and commercial video have to do with anything?

saigon
saigon Posted: April 30, 2007, 1:56 am

...pardon the PItch and comercial...am still exploring all these "EDGE" thing.. but moving on... UBR (Birdthay C.CArd) is a controlled FInancial asistance for the subscriber who doesnt have a credit card yet. ITs prepaid but the payment scheme can still be spread into 12 months period. Though no one is barred to pay it in cash (though its sound odd why one cant buy it in cash and doesnt have the cash when he needs to used it)...
By the way are the ideas in CH fenced on dot.com thingy only?

PLease let me know

use cash

AlexUk,

Using cash is a solution but it wont give a good credit power to bulk up the company investment and cash flow in the long run... student will be trained to save money via prepaid(installment) and would give the have nots(blue collar) an answer to their yearly need to spend on their birthday.

it has been done... one is called the PrezzyCard and is a VISA...

saigon Posted: May 24, 2007, 12:13 am

Thanks Andrew:

I just saw it nowbut, its pitch i understand is for Christmas or Gifts.
This is not a me too product but trying to revolutionize what ever might be there "already". though i thought i am the first... the punchline of:

"Birthday only comes once a year"
is powerful enough...

In most part of the world its giving yourself not only gift (for your self?) but giving or reaching out for others (esp. for loved ones). How about a night in the hotel with your fiancee. A student wanted to get a spa. A brewed coffee(or a round of beer) for your colleague. Imagine the actual posibilities or real need =)

Still its pre paid..and if Prezzy business model took off so will be this IDEA.

Did you mean that you want to change the concept of PrezzyCard and VISA? Correct me if I'm wrong.

saigon
saigon Posted: June 5, 2007, 1:51 am

Iskandar:

No, am just saying the difference between my UBC and Prezzy Card...
its another form of credit card...once a year used, prepaid or otherwise and can be avail by almost everybody.

credit cards take fees, even on the pre-paided cards, to use the network so why would a parent take that discount in the gift?

also, with other gift cards out there that don't take any percentage (eg specific retail stores) why would someone opt for this route?

This idea sounds more like it would work over seas (not in America or Canada). I think what Saigon is saying is that a person who is BROKE can put $10 a week, more or less if their life allows into this card and then it will ONLY allow them to use it for the 10 days around their birthday. It "forces"them to save the money because they cant get it out..??.. But it gives them the chance to have a big birthday each year.

I personally would rather be able to pay my mortgage and my property taxes, then go out for my birthday! But I think that it is a good idea for over seas.

what's the difference from a regular gift card???

saigon
saigon Posted: August 3, 2007, 10:47 pm

A gift card is prepaid...this one is either prepaid, post paid and can even be under layway plan. Very good for the non- credit card holder and students. And can be only used at least once (as per annual purchase and credit limit allows).

A similar idea in the US is a Christmas fund with your local bank. You put money away in a separate account so it makes it "easier" to save (out of sight, out of mind)

I would love to see the card not just be a "money in = money out" type of card. I would be nice to see some kind of interest for the card holder. So the card holder puts away their money each time they get paid. Then the account gains interest on the balance. US savings and checking accounts gain .25-2% interest, Money market accounts (which are unsecured) gain 4% or more.

So my suggestion is to have the underlying holding company perform low risk investments to provide a dividend to their card holder. A good thing to model your service after would be like the money market funds offered by sharebuilder.com (no minimum balance, no inactivity fees, withdraw at any time).

Here is a link to check it out: http://www.sharebuil...MoneyMarketFund.aspx
