Hello!

You've landed in the archive of the Cambrian House community. We've kept some pages here for posterity but the community is no longer active. Now we market the technology that made our early crowdsourcing a success.

Can we help you get to Cambrian House the company? – Come on over.

Are you seeking crowdsourcing technology? – Check out Chaordix by Cambrian House.

Cambrian House

Cambrian House is a very interesting idea - crowdsourced software. Their goal is to leverage the wisdom of crowds to both receive as well as filter business ideas, code and creative content.
Ken Yarmosh, Jul 2006

Cambrian House began as a crowdsourcing community using a wisdom of crowds based approach to discover new business and technology ideas. These pages are being kept online as a technology demo to showcase Chaordix™.

Looking to harness the power of your crowd? Find out about Chaordix™ - technology that enables enterprises to get the most out of crowdsourcing.

The Idea

This site will allow Peace Corps volunteers to post projects that they need help with when local resouces and talent will not allow for the project to proceed. People from all over the world that want to help can then contact the volunteer through the site (to maintain privacy) and work with the Peace Corps volunteer to get the project off the ground. Areas of focus: virtual volunteering, sending materials, project promotion & collaboration and project funding.

I thought of this idea when I was...

I was a volunteer for 2 years in Guyana and a number of project I initiated could not be completed because of a lack of resources.

There are a lot of freelance sites that you could adapt for this idea such as guru.com/elance.com and tailor it to fit your needs. Many of these sites don't have a non-profit section and I think that your site would be a great compliment to their existing services. You could even create a "widget" that interfaces with these and other sites to push data to these sites and feed traffic to your site.

Love the concept. I'm not sure that it's the best fit for CH right now, but, that aside, it's a good idea. Question for you - Peace Corps are exclusive to the US, right? Perhaps there should be a segment (tab?) on the site for international volunteers (Doctors without Borders, etc)
