This would be a website that takes a user-created design and makes curtains, bedding and other household design elements. For instance, if you have a pattern you're looking for, and it's not available, you would draw it out, or create it. Maybe there'd be graphic artists to talk to to help flesh out your idea. Then, the site would work with a silks screener or cloth designer to bring those ideas to reality. Users would buy the finished product and pay the site a small fee. Advertisers would also advertise things like nicknacks to go with it or furniture, or design services.
I couldn't find sheets with the pattern I wanted.
It is a good idea but I reckon it needs something else to really make it exciting for the average internet user. This strikes me as a specialty market. That being said, I can not think of what that "something else" might be. Perhaps other readers will have an idea
Well while your at it: maybe add some sort of design studio? So you can see wether the curtains and beddings and stuff fit together?
Besides that its a pretty good idea. The problem will probably be finding graphic artists and silk screeners
This would work if the site has a built-in design tool that lets you preview fairly accurately what you'll hold in your hands once you order. Simple for flat items (sheets, curtains, t-shirts), not so simple for three dimensional objects like lampshades or non-uniformly shaped pillows. You'd need a 3D capable design preview to show what prints look like on three dimensional items.
Cafepress.com is superficially similar to what you've described.
This addresses a very real problem. You need a specific color or color profile, you are looking to reinforce a particular decorator theme. It is like looking for a needle in a haystack, there is no system to it. You have to look everywhere until you find the right THING made in the right colors with the right theme. This takes a great deal of time and sometimes you just never do find what you were seeking. I looked for years for a gold/fleur de lis patterned shower curtain and NEVER found it. All the other fleur de lis stuff wore out, eliminating the issue. On the other hand, if you want shells in your bathroom, or roses, or fish, etc..... every store seems to have their version of these themes. There are many practical issues to resolve, but it would be great!
Take it a step further and have a kids picture created to canvas/wrapping paper (ie 4m roll etc) Could work well for charities around holidays, kids draw halloween pictures, these are made into banners/cards same for Christmas and Easter etc. Kindergardens could do T-shirt sales for fundraisers/uniforms - this could have a lot of applications.
