Crowdsourcing represents the act of a company or institution taking a function once performed by employees and outsourcing it to an undefined (and generally large) network of people in the form of an open call.Jeff Howe, Jun 2006

It's free! Like love in the sixties!
For music lovers who want high quality legal music the EZwayMusic is a music dowloader that supports the artists with free music using Ads. Unlike limwire our product is legal and supportive.
To create a music downloader like Itunes and not charge for the music. Have the music quality be 100% and straight from the artists. Using advertisements in the software to pay for the music. The revenue from advertising isnt going to give the artists alot of money but more then the zero they are getting now. The artists would have to fully agree and allow you to give away there music. How paying the artists would work is the artist that have more songs downloaded in that month get a bigger cut of the advertisement funds. The idea would be to get all music artists using this which will have so many people using the software you could charge more for advertising. Also could have a monthly fee version without advertisements. Users would use this software over limewire or other music downloaders because the quality will be guarenteed and they will be supporting the artist. The software could also link to the bands websites and have features like similiar artists and top artists and most downloaded.
I need suggestions to refine it.....
Not supporting the artists of the music i liked
what makes it legal? How would you address IPR and copyrights?
I don't think you could generate enough money on ads alone to pay the artists what they would like.
It could be interin' for starting artists..

The hole point is no one pays for music right now anyways so at least they are getting something..... and artists are soon going and many already have realized the only way to make real money with music is extras and concerts.
I'd be happy to use a service like this if it was DRM free, but I think you'll see people cracking the software so they can avoid the ads, and just enjoy the music.
Most tech savvy people are used to having access to just about any music they want. So inconveniencing them in any way (ads) won't fly.
I can see myself subscribing to music services for money, but most big artists are locked into record labels which don't want to give up DRM.
Your idea competes against these big obstacles and I don't think does enough to overcome them.
nice idea but not balancely thought both for the artist and consumers.
There should be a sharp irating noice through the sounds when you have listen to a illegal download or maybe a part of the number. Get the patent first when you find a solution:-)
How about deezer.com or spiralfrog.com? Are either of these similar to your idea?
Been DONE!
A number of competitors out there. MP3.com use to do this. I believe SoundClick.com does this now. Then, there are a ton of other ones that I don't care about, because there are just too many.
its done!
DONE! :)
Limewire illegal? No; what people are doing with it is illegal. ;-)
I am not too familiar with this area. My take is that if the music is available, just not burnable, and on sites like facebook and myspace, it would make sense to me. Like I said though, not too familiar.
In the hight of the dot com boom you could make $5 per 1000 impressions, for each ad. Now you make $.25 per 1000 impressions if you are lucky. Each view would generate $.00025 you would have to look at 4000 ads before you could get one song for free... so sorry this is not going to happen.
There are plenty of sites (SoundClick, Arkade...) that allow artists to list their music for free and charge whatever they like for it, with the site taking a cut of the profit. None of these are particularly successful (or at least they haven't made me any money!), which says something about your chances.
IFF you can get this adopted by a HUGE number of people then it might attract unsigned artists looking to get their names known. Otherwise, I don't see how this can possibly work.
Got something to say?
