Mistakes will be made. But if a person is essentially right, the mistakes he or she makes are not as serious in the long run as the mistakes management will make if it undertakes to tell those in authority exactly how they must do their jobs.William McKnight, 3M

A Personal Website Portal that is a single site for on for all your favorite websites where you can view all your internet content under one roof. With the ability to provide a single sign on for all your website that require a username and password
I have about 25 websites that I check everyday and also I have a user name and password for so many other websites like wachovia, yahoo, msn, ebay, digg, espn, cambrian house, consumer reports , two credit card sites, college loan company, verterans affairs, usaa, joost, and many more ...........
So instead of logging into all these sites I want the ability to have one single sign on and have all the pages visible under one page
Now I start to believe that the message you get when you accidentally re-submit your idea is true.....
This was on my list of ideas to submit.
Think .net was about that, or is about that. When it comes to web development I ignore M$ so not sure.
My little twist to this idea would be:
- You have one profile with all details
- When you join a site that is part of our network you select what info to give them. Or perhaps they tell you what info they require and you choose what info to give from our service and what to fill in your self.
- Security would for sure be a big consern
Know this problem so well myself.
i agree on the security front, it would be great to have an administrators password and have all my banking/email/ebay/membership/porn...er/news sites load up easily and at once, but if its not secure you could get royally skrewed if that top level password got out. otherwise, sounds very useful
Ahhh! You might want to check iGoogle. Yep! They already tought about it.
Check http://www.netvibes.com/.
I think that's what yopur looking for.
Tommy
Yes security of that master log in would be crucial to making the site work.
I checked out the netvibes and igoogle so thanks for the info........I need to polish my idea up but I appreciate the feed back. They are very close to my idea but lack the functionality that I think people will want. IE a way to manage the growing number of logins, ease of use and etc
Microsoft tried this with Passport, and there is also the OpenID initiative.
Something similar to my idea called "one identity". However, check netvibes too.
ok so there is similar ideas but how are u going to be different?
I had the same idea...
One big problem: safety
This idea crops up at least once every week and I am sick of seeing it.
Got something to say?
