The Idea

Christmas is traditionally associated with ?giving? and with the Christmas tree, festooned with various decorations. We should therefore set up an online Christmas tree where we can hang some gifts or donations to the poor people too, besides to our friends and relatives. Gifts would be suitably categorized and represented by various colored ornaments, numbered and detailed in a searchable index. The Tree would be designed to ?grow? along with the gifts received. Gifts could be in cash or kind and would be allowed throughout the year but would be opened, ceremoniously, only on Christmas morning, except for emergency aid donations. Collection and delivery of gifts would be the responsibility of those setting up this tree and should be free except for gifts to friends and relatives. Christmas comes on just one day in a year. This online Christmas tree will, hopefully, let the Christmas spirit at least linger on in our hearts and thoughts throughout the year!

I thought of this idea when I was...

I just read a news item about a giant Christmas tree with some 30.000 lights being inaugurated in the Rockefeller Center in USA and I thought wouldn>t it be far better if we could couple such festivity with gifts and donations to the poor and needy too. These could be represented by various ornaments and then hung from the Christmas tree just the like gifts we hang there for our friends and relatives.

Looks good.

Yea should work but it should be changed a bit. Firstly it would be a little hard to give gift if you don't have anything to give. Banners around the Christmas tree won't be nice. All that flashing text will get more attention than that Christmas tree in the center. I thought that...
Christmas tree should be modeled in 3d ( 3dsmax or maya). After that it should be put into the flash where you can rotate it 360 degrees. On the christmas tree there are little gift and bigger gifts on the ground. On the gifts sides there are advertisment slots. There can be video or image. And ofcourse those slots are for sale around the year. Earlier you buy better slot you can get ! Also if you click on the gift( gifts should be only boxes) it will smoothly zoom to the gift where you can see all the information about the advertiser and directly go to their homepage when you click on it.
And now. Why should anybody come to the site ? Because there are big prizes to win.

Also I want to say Hi to all of you. New here :)
Also what that "There are 25.001 registered with you" means. That im the 25,001th ?

Thanks Sogastic,

You are right, flashing banners would divert attention from the Christmas tree, and I wasn't thinking of such banners but of the more graceful conventional decorations found in trees put up in homes.
Regarding the gifts, its not the value alone that counts , its the thought and spirit behind the gifts.
The 3D and Flash ideas are lovely, but I don't think any advertising should be allowed. Also people should be visiting the site not for earning prizes but for 'giving', whether to their kith & kin, friends or just to people in need; in the true spirit of Christmas!
