The Idea

Chat logs are fun because you can recall chats from long ago. I'm thinking of a website where you can upload your chat logs from your computer and this website can store them for later viewing online. You would be aload to download your logs too. The only problems I see with this idea are that so many different insant messengers use different chat log formats. I also realize that there would be a problem with the method of storing the logs on the server. How would that work? MySQL? Raw Files? I'm sure someone could figure something out. What do you think?

I thought of this idea when I was...

I thought of this when I was troubled to remember that I had lost all of my chat logs to a reinstall. I had forgotten to back them up. It was very frustrating.

do people really want to remember what they said 2 months ago? I can only see this if you want to pass on what someone said about some else

I like this idea, i often find it amusing to look back at old logs. I also use different PCs so a central store would be good.

Good idea, but wouldn't it better if you could export your chat logs as txt, doc, etc? Then do it on any storage site you like!

Do many people go through old chat logs? Do they even store them. I dont know many who do, in fact I dont know anyone.

Now me is one MarkBowness ;)
But as I told previously, the best way to deal with this problem is exporting inculded in the software. Add this feeature and no loss of past chats anymore.
