The Elevator Pitch

For the consumer who knows to take advantage of a good deal the online local store bargain comparsion site is a fast and easy tool that put you in control. Unlike the junk flyers you get in the mail our product you have full control on the local bargains to choose from, and you always know where to find it when you need it.

The Idea

Do you shop around for the cheapest grocery goods?

No?

Does it take too much time?

Every week going through the junk flyer's in the mail in the over filled post box.

And when you need it, you have thrown it in the garbage.

I have spoken with some people here in Norway and they say it will be a real hit among newly established, alone mothers, students, senior citizens (yes there are quite a few of those online these days) and others looking for a bargain.

Down to the basics:
- A website where you enter your zip/area code and up comes great deals local stores are running this week
-Let the user print out a shopping list
- Keywords: Fast & easy

Ive made some of the basics. I sat up the database and made the search function so you can enter zip code to get local stores in your area. (only made it for Norway)

I thought of this idea when I was...

It would be a great idea if freakin "Walmart" wouldn't kill the local and small merchant byt importing "cheaper and better goods" from low standards China.

Food prices can differ per day, so do have a up-to-date site is diffecult. Besides that: it's not just about prize but also about quality.

Thank you for the input.

No Walmart in Norway.
Are you saying that in your area, you dont need to shop around. Because its cheapest at walmart anyway. Even for the quality products.

I'm thinking listing all products that are on sale.
I Norway the chains changes their products that they have on sale every week, some changes every other week.

But then again Norway is a small country, perhaps 10-15 food chains. Each having 20-50 products on sale every so often.

Regarding quality, that is what is about. Often a chain run sale on Coca-Cola, another on Pepsi, and other on another brand.

The site would list:
1,5l Coca-Cola x.xx$ Unit Price: x.xx$/l Spar
1,5l Pepsi x.xx$ Unit Price: x.xx$/l Walmart
1,5l Crappy-Cola x.xx$ Unit Price: x.xx$/l Walmart
1,5l Coca-Cola x.xx$ Unit Price: x.xx$/l Lidle

So the consumer is in full control and can choose where to get the product he want at the best price.

Wrote much of this in the idea i tself, but ideas are limited to 1000 chars.

Good deal is relative... i better go to the nearest convenient store *or 7eleven...than check which can give me the best deal in the village. Well..might have some demograhic market, still ist volatile since they change preferences..if they know the area morethan 6mos..i bet they know where to shop by then!

You know, some store managers might actually like transparency for their current specials... they might use the "Store Cam" to have up-to-date pricing available on the web without worrying about being consistent between the shelf tags and the "webvertizing".

Is this a shameless plug for my idea? Yes. However, I think it is also a good fit to the present idea.

I like the idea zenanthor.

I'm also in Norway and offers normally last for a week of three. You could easily get your postbox filled every day with advertizing. Then use an hour to go through it and add the special offers and dates when they start the offer and duration. Add the Ikea catalog and other catalogs that give special offers on certain days. Search online websites that are known to offer special time-limited offers etc.

Give the viewer option to email-subscribe to daily special offer brief that includes paid advertizing or give clickable links that provides an topframe similar to google image search where you can display adverts.

Just some first thoughts there..
