The Idea

Basically it'd be a clone of gasbuddy.com, with user submission of gas prices for various gas prices around the globe. However there would be a mapping service integrated allowing for more gas price visualization so the user can see where gas is cheapest and then get directions to said gas station.

I thought of this idea when I was...

Just thinking of mashups

It is a good mashup idea, but I am curious whether this is a significant advancement that will propel users to your site. Just a question for the community to think about.

Good Luck.

driving more than a mile or so from your normal route to save a few cents in gas can actually lead to an increase in costs.

Thats why these sites actually arent that great.

Run this on a mobile device with GPS and maybe you've got something.

I just did a search on "gas" and came up with 7 ideas already submitted which are virtually all doing the same thing and some have the mobile facilitation!

Bah, there should be a thing on cambrian house similar to digg in that when you submit an idea, it first goes to a page where it shows you similar ideas and you can submit it after you've confirmed your idea is different.
