Mistakes will be made. But if a person is essentially right, the mistakes he or she makes are not as serious in the long run as the mistakes management will make if it undertakes to tell those in authority exactly how they must do their jobs.William McKnight, 3M
Cambrian House began as a crowdsourcing community using a wisdom of crowds based approach to discover new business and technology ideas. These pages are being kept online as a technology demo to showcase Chaordix™.

For Cambrian House users who want to be able to more efficient on CambrianHouse.com the CH Console is a application that allows users to have a larger, more accessible space for their Cambrian House work and Ideas. Unlike the website (Cambrianhouse.com) our product allows users to use the features of the site without having to be on the webpage, or even use some while offline.
I like Cambrian House. I love Cambrian House. But I hate having to go to the website all the time and login.
Sure i could put it as a favorite and sure I could save the passwords but I want it to be signed in all the time and still be secure.
So I propose a program that would allow CH users to check their ideas, forums, leaderboard and other fun CH features in one easy to use program. Messaging would be shaped like Microsoft Outlook, and users could have a place to put notes and scan in drawings and ideas for later use. I think this would also help when people have ideas offline and want to type them out. **This could also allow for the addition of video conferencing for businesses?**
I've also caught wind of a great too that could be well utilized by this program. It's called Adobe Air. It's exactly the kind of tool I was looking for. Read it.
Please tell me any ideas you have on this.
Using Cain & Able, the password program and thinking about how user friendly it isn't...
and when I was using Utorrent and thinking about how easy to use it is
I think this would be neat, but just a really small market... only a few people would buy this out of a community of 13,000
I also agree that the limited space is a pain, but the idea is to try to keep ideas short.
arg hit enter...
So you have to get the info out in the shortest space, some people only read a little of your idea.
no i mean the layout of the console should be large, not the idea layout
and hell, i dunno if we should sell it
mabye i should have put this in the suggestion box because this should be free
Yeah... Something like this should be free.
Why not make a little api for netvibes. I would be the first to use it!!!!

Although Cambrian House is a brilliantly designed website, it seems users are interested in easier access, that is, from a desktop application. You're idea is great, but I'm torn between this one and an idea that was posted a few days ago:
http://www.cambrianh...er/ideas-id/SQruLhi/
As it stands now, both ideas are strikingly similar, and unless you can update your idea to include some distinguishing features, my vote will have to go with CH Desktop Notifier.
i really like the Notifier, but I want to be able to pull up the program and actually use all of the functions of the site, and more.
But the notifier could be like a "mini player" for when you minimize the larger program.
I agree that our projects are similar. When I wrote the description for Notifier, many of the features you mentioned in Console were in my head. I too think we should work together, since our ideas are nearly identical. =]
Send me a pm sometime.
Very very niche. Would be better as a feature request in the forums than as an idea in Idea Warz.
no i think if people actually tried it and we got every bodies input it would work wonders
Jill: I understand where you are coming from, but I have to agree with Patrick_Jones. I watched a few CH videos and MJ always mentions the use of widgets and how important they are. I think if we could all spend a little time working on a small project like this, it would work wonders for the community.
That said... I'm going to post this up to the forums, so people can add their input.
I'd prefer a little rss.
I think consoles are hard to use and have a steep learning curve. I think it would be stellar to see a wiki setup in conjunction with this website - on the Mediawiki platform though. There is less of a learning curve, and it is soooo flexible that it could be made fast and highly flexible while still conforming to the look and brand of Cambrian house and its website.
My bias though. : )
hey Fitzpatrick, whats the forum link?
Whats wrong with typing them on the computer all ready and copy paste?
Because you could just create lots of ideas and go through a form of idea forge with them and when you reconnect to the net the program would auto submit them.
Plus having a little notepad type widget that would allow me to type out an idea and save if for later would be great.
And it would let me sort my notes and stuff like that.
I need it.
What is definitely true ist that the website sucks in terms of pace; just surfing through all the ideas takes me a hell lot of time because the loading time of each idea is terribly slow and I have a very fast connection.
I don't know what you do wrong with the site but I hardly know any site that takes sooo long to load; maybe you should not reload the whole site everytime I just switch the idea....!
