The Elevator Pitch

For Advertisers who need to gauge their advertising efficency the BestTVAds is a way that they can measure that value. Unlike anything else our product gives them accurate data about who watched the ads (demographics) and whether they liked it or not.

The Idea

"A Way for TV-Advertisers to measure Ad Effectiveness"

Gauge for which ads were actually seen and noticed by consumers

A portal, where users can vote for their favorite TV ad.

Revenue Model:
The results/feedback of the polls can be sold to the interested parties who are trying to find out how their ad(or the competitor's ad) did and who watched it (demographics).

Results are sold in form of custom reports driven from the database.

Incentives are given to users to come to the site to vote for ads, in form of drawings or free products by the advertisers.

Additional benefits:
Good exposure for ad agencies showing off their talents and getting more business.

Entertainment Value:
A yahoo type of directory of old, classic, international, most voted, most viewed and local ads that can be viewed anytime.

Web application already developed in LAMP.

I thought of this idea when I was...

I was thinking how do the advertisers REALLY know how their ad did and whether the people liked it or not.
This method gives advertisers accurate Feedback, almost real-time.

Proving television's value to advertising has become especially critical for the networks, which this season have seen a severe downturn in ad revenue. Industry-watchers like Universal McCann's Robert Coen and independent analyst Jack Myers remain bearish on network TV, while highlighting rival cable and local television as the sector's relative bright spots.

This concept is a Web 2.0 compatible concept.

A great idea! Some of the most interesting video clips I've watched on youtube are ads. Such as the Sony Bravia ads and the Honda car parts made into a Rube Goldberg machine ads. It's a shame that advertisers don't know how much I enjoyed their ads.

Good idea.
What I don't understand:
Incentives are given to users to come to the site to vote for ads, in form of drawings?????

Hi Vanhees:

Sorry for the confusion.
What I meant was in order to get people to vote online (which probably requires registration), they need to be motivated by the sponsors.
The sponsors give away "things" or users can enter "drawings" to win stuff.
The idea was a way to get the people to vote, an incentive of some sort.

I like the idea and it makes sense to include an incentive. Maybe it is something that can be combined with the idea of last week from Moogy (http://www.cambrianh.../ideas-id/BYicDj1/). Good luck!

Or they could suggest and send in "mock-ups" of how they would like their next advert, getting products in return if chosen with some getting goods for second-places etc.

Best

I don't see how you're going to find enough people who feel strongly enough about television advertising to give up precious time to log on every day and rate what they've seen. Even if you do, you're likely only to see a certain demographic, which is of very limited use to advertisers.

Yay! A tool that provides marketers with greater ammunition for more effective manipulation. It's good for the corporations, but not good for the consumers.

Yes, the challenge is to get the consumers to vote.

That's why I thought "maybe" incentives should be given to consumers to vote and the more points they have the better chance they have to get picked for the monthly or weekly drawings.

Since this tool is valuable for the advertisers, they are the ones to provide the incentives; the challenge with that is that the site needs to show existing (tangable) demographics, that excites their appetite. Once the site is in the 2nd gear, then it becomes easier to get more advertisers.

That's the "only way" that came to my mind to generate the traffic.

Or maybe for the first phase to get the consumer's attention, we could offer the first 500 users x-numbers of stock options of the company, which on average generate x-amount of votes per week.

Suggestions are welcome!
