A first Person Shooter/ RPG Murder Mystery with a choice of pin-up girls as your main characters, set in the mid 1930 to 40's. Lately women around town have begun to disappear. They all just happen to be connected to members in the mob. You need to collect clues and dispose of certain characters along the way, on a mission 'to find out what has happened with all of your fellow pin-up girls. Some of the key features in the game include "an open city environment" allowing non-linear game play. Allowing the character to pick and choose the their course of action so you can immerse yourself in the game allowing full control of the investigation. Your character would also be customizable and the more you use your weapon/skills, it would increase that particular weapon/skill.
I love pin-up girls...this art style brings in a different look and feel to a genre dominated by a male influence.
The mix of action and mystery is awesome. I know plenty people that would buy something like this, and I probably would.
One problem, though. Dynamic, open city environments are tough players in programmer land. The single player factor dumbs down the processing issues, but pathfinding and traffic are some tough, possibly expensive cookies. However, I heard there is a GrandTheftAuto engine out for download-or-sale, and that might help a nice bunch.
Thanks for the input! That'd be unreal if we could get a hold of an engine like the GTA engine. I heard Rockstar is working/developed a new engine for the new GTA game, and maybe it will make it easier to create more dynamic and ambient environments. I can see this game possibly taking place mostly in the evening, so that could reduce the amount of traffic and pedestrians, but could come up with it's own issues in terms of more dynamic lighting. But I suppose if programming would allow it, we could make the lighting system mirror that of Oblivion, with day / night and all that in between.
Dang. I re-looked it up and what I saw was how people modded GTA's textures/maps/etc.... Not exactly what I was hoping for (code). It wouldn't be too bad with a team of professionals, I guess; I just remember ripping my hair out a couple hundred times over car physics, traffic AI and mass pathfinding.
I found the game engine that Bethesda used for Oblivion. I wonder if it would be powerfully enough to use. Also, I can take a look into Crackdown, see what engine was used for that game.
If the main character is a pin-up girl, i would go third person!! I want to see her with the cool different outfits i could collect!
cool idea
