The Idea
Never know what to get for people? Enter your budget and answer a few questions to create a profile for your recipient(s). The gift wizard then offers up a few gifts (or collections of gifts) within your budget. The selections are based on the profile you provide and best sellers for that demographic (info pulled from Amazon, eBay, etc.) If the gift wizard didn't exactly nail it, you can select gifts that are on the right track and the wizard will use genetic algorithms to offer another set of selections. The user can control various parameters of the gift wizard: conservative-wacky, manly-princess, cereberal-mindless, etc.

Being a terrible consumer, it follows that I get depressed whenever I try to think of good gifts for people. Wandering aimlessly around malls and department stores never seems to help either.

I'd actually link the site with retailers and earn an affiliate income. Program recommends a gift and person can immediately purchase it.
This would be a great way to generate revenue with little overhead.
And it helps me shop for the people who are impossible to shop for in my life (nearly everyone).
As a person who is rather oblivious to the world and the people around me, I can say with 100% certainty that I would utilise it.
