The Idea

Instead of a single (admittedly simple and easy to use) star rating, break ratings up into a few dimensions such as:

Addresses an unmet need,

Can be implemented practically,

Market size,

Profit potential,

Simplicity / elegance

I thought of this idea when I was...

Most ideas are flawed, but just rating someone one star doesn't really tell where the flaw is.

Comments are nice, but they take time to read / understand, and often are not left because they take more time / effort to write than just clicking a star.

Having a multidimensional rating would also allow sorting ideas by the various ratings categories - ideas that address an unmet needs might be very interesting, even if their initial explanation is flawed in other areas.

Great idea. Should also include a "Should be forum post instead of idea" rating.

I think this must go to forum posts rather than the idea section.

As was said before, this should be suggested as a Cambrian House 3.0 feature.

I like the idea and the thinking behind it, but with the growing number of ideas in each round it's becoming difficult enough to give a fair rating to each one as it is. If you don't feel that the comments facility allows you to give enough feedback, please at least make the extra ratings optional!

using a retangle you could have x-axis represent quality of idea and y-axis represent amount of refinement needed (for example) and then you could click anywhere in the rectangle.

Jup, please submit this to the forums.

Sounds good, to the forums it is then!

I thought of this a few weeks ago when, listening to Pandora, I realized the same thing -- I could only vote on the entire item, not the part I actually disliked.

If Pandora implemented this, it could probably learn what songs I want to hear a lot faster.

If other groups took this, it could really change personalization.

I like DaveK's idea of a little more of a non standard entry method to help keep up the "cool" factor of using CH and rating ideas.

BTW, here is one of the bigger threads on CH 3.0 features...

I do like this thought, but i gotta down vote it as CH suggestions belong in forums.
