Create a helmet to wear whilst playing alternative reality games such as World of Warcraft and Call for Duty. Wearing a helmet with a screen and microphone enables gamers to play in a room with any light conditions, without dependency on a high definition television, and without distractions from other people in the same room. The helmet would have a noise reduction feature to help keep out background sounds. The helmet would work either with a cable or wirelessly.
My son (age 12), an avid gamer, came up with this idea.
You can all ready buy some high tech gaming gear for a helmet display.
I have seen visor displays (never worn one) but don't recall helmets. Replacing small headphones with noise cancelling headphone shells starts to become more helmet like.
Hardware means R&D budget. Not good fit for CH.
It exists in some form or another, atleast the the display.
I guess in combination with a thin-client one could play WoW anywhere there is wireless internet available.
I'm not sure about the image quality of these things and if they don't tire the eyes. Haven't seen many people wearing them yet though.
dude, this has already been done to death
you need something more original
I have seen glasses as well. It may have been done to death Woodstock, but no one has penetrated the market all that thoroughly. The question is whether there is any original way to sell the damn things. The price point has gotten low enough that it should sell more if its compelling.
Edavidove, why would your son want one of these?
it would be nice if they made one small enough that it could just be a clip for regular glasses and weigh like 1 ounce.
maybe the tech isn't that good yet.
and be wireless and have some snazzy input methods (mini wiimote type device?)
My son originally came up with this idea because he wanted a distraction free space to play with excellent visual and audio qualities. Perhaps a helmet is not the right solution - but the desire is there.
this sounds like virtual boy for Nintendo. They had problems with people getting dizzy and lack of 3d games.
done and done
yup its already been done!..lot of them infact
