You've landed in the archive of the Cambrian House community. We've kept some pages here for posterity but the community is no longer active. Now we market the technology that made our early crowdsourcing a success.
Can we help you get to Cambrian House the company? – Come on over.

The Cambrian House Crew
Cambrian House is a very interesting idea - crowdsourced software. Their goal is to leverage the wisdom of crowds to both receive as well as filter business ideas, code and creative content.Ken Yarmosh, Jul 2006
Cambrian House began as a crowdsourcing community using a wisdom of crowds based approach to discover new business and technology ideas. These pages are being kept online as a technology demo to showcase Chaordix™.
Looking to harness the power of your crowd? Find out about Chaordix™ - technology that enables enterprises to get the most out of crowdsourcing.

For Writers and Journalists on the go... who I need it because I'm sick and tired of shlepping around loads of stuff..even if its relatively small stuff like a laptop and a notebook...it's still heavy after awhile...and I like to write on the go on locations a lot... the Rubber Computer Power Jelly is a future of notebook and laptop computing that rolls up like a tiny rubber tube keyboard, monitor (which contains the cpu), and all...fits right in your shirt or coat pocket. You can even store the whole thing in a large zip-lock baggie.. Unlike there's nothing like it on the market yet our product solves the problem of carrying around a bunch of components..
The dream is to have a rubber computer that folds up and can fit in your pocket or inside coat sleeve along with a keyboard of the very same ilk.
So I figure both components would roll-up like a tiny tube that locks in place when flat and can snap back pretty fast when a button is pressed.
The thing should be big enough to feel extremely natural and comfortable to type on and view as if you where typing a novel on a standard notebook computer. I figure it might weigh only a few ounces...no more than a pound.

Increasingly I'm growing away from the tried and true notebook or laptop system. Growing away from it in thought...more than function. I just need to carry around a lot less and ditch my case or bag altogether for urban or rural commutes.

The military has flexible monitors in development. They can be rolled into a tube like those old transparent sheets. I understand that their initial application is (will be) interactive maps on the battle-field. For civilians, I read that a roll-up monitor the size of a newspaper will "BE" the newspaper of the future. You will "page" forward and back, and the next day's news will load to the monitor.
I want an all in one digital device. Phone, MP3, video, GPS, video projector AND beer fridge. But I can't post that as an idea, 'cause I haven't figured out how to keep the beer cold... the darn projector light bulb keeps heating the beer! Argh! Anyway idea which are wouldn't-it-be-nice-to-have rants without corresponding biz models probably aren't going to get up votes. -g
Its like a Palm smart phone...stylus will do better.

I believe a possible solution is virtual reality computer keyboards. You would still need a CPU but just glasses and gloves to type (in the air). A recent article in MacLife talked about UMD - ultra mobile devices - think of a powermac placed into an iPhone with an ultra high bandwidth connection to other devices.
I think in 3-5 years we will be at this stage.

kampai!....got my 3 stars for now =)
bcforrester has the right idea.
The things you are seeing in the movies like Minority Report and Paycheck (well the cool interface technologies, not breaking the laws of physics and tampering with the space time continuum...) could be here before we know it.
3-5 years might be a little short, perhaps ten years, but that's still right around the corner!
how would you ever do this?
dreampipe?!
This monitor rolls up, but isn't rubber http://www.crashutah...ens-you-can-roll-up/

Have you heard of OLED?
That or the Palm Foleo?
Please refine your idea with an implementation model, the vision is awesome and I share what you're dreaming about. Just put it into a concrete implementation model and you'll have me sold (and millions of others :).
.... so the carrying annoyance is your main problem right? MOther board can be rubberized! =(
