The Idea

There are a lot of MMOGs on the market these days and many players have lost touch with friends they once had in games they no longer play.
The site would allow players to add all their current and previous game characters to their profile and be contacted by other members who remember them. It would let old guildmates reunite and find out what old friends are currently playing.

I thought of this idea when I was...

thinking about old guildmates that I used to have fun with

What will keep me coming back to your site? Yeah, I found a friend or two, but what is going to make me a repeat visitor?

While this is a great idea, I can see problems getting this started. Other problems might include massive amounts of data; World of Warcraft is enjoying millions of users each with the possibility of having multiple characters.

I love this idea, it would especially be good if it followed accounts not specific characters that way when one of my friends started an alt I could recieve an ingame notification, or something along those lines, letting me know that they are still online just on a different character.

Cool idea, but not clear on the business model. Would you make people pay to get in touch with people they find on the site?

do you have any idea what games you would start with?

I really like this idea. I don't have much experience with games such as WoW (or 3d games), but I run a browser based multi player game.

And can really see a good use for a site like that. If combined with say a gamer community it could get popular real quick.
As an active gamer at my game usually play many games of the same kind.
And keeping track of friends is not always easy as time goes by. On most of the other games of this kind when you die you make a new username.

So a site with this idea, and perhaps a forum to discuss various games would be attractive to players. In my opinion.

As game owner I would be willing to promote the site/service on my game. And even make it so my game works interactive with the service. (When they make a new character their profile is updated so their friends know)
