Mistakes will be made. But if a person is essentially right, the mistakes he or she makes are not as serious in the long run as the mistakes management will make if it undertakes to tell those in authority exactly how they must do their jobs.

Cambrian House began as a crowdsourcing community using a wisdom of crowds based approach to discover new business and technology ideas. These pages are being kept online as a technology demo to showcase Chaordix™.

The Idea

Create a community for world peace. Voices of the world.. for collaboration into creating the world into a safer place.

Imagine the members from myspace community and empowering in politics and having the citizens of the world speaking out to change the world. Might be hard in practise but if people help each other something might happen. I bet if just 10 % of users on myspace got commited something would happen!!! and empowering that with the viral video of such sites as youtube . we could actually do something to change the world

I thought of this idea when I was...

thanks . any ideas?

My only worry would be that if this did take off, it would be easily replicated by bigger players. You would have to make something exclusive to this site.

Good Luck.

Rizal

Doymarn
Doymarn Posted: April 27, 2007, 6:22 pm

If Bluewookie is correct wouldn't that be great, we would get much bigger pieces of peace.

Can you put a value on peace? Should you make a profit on peace? Why not i suppose, because there is a hell of a lot of money made from war.

But how do you think you would make some profit out of it?

This is a noble endeavor.

Is this to be a commercial application or a nonprofit?

Hi Rizal,

Here's some ideas (broadstrokes)

-Maybe naming it Crowd for Peace
- CH Crowd may opt to bear the digital "Peace Insignia"
- CH members or CH affiliate enterpises bearing the insignia agreed to pledge % of their RPs and its GPs (or real monetary income) creating the World Peace Fund
- 90% of Fund will bankroll various forms of social marketing campaigns for Peace
- Which specific campaign to fund will be decided by the crowd.
- I think we need to inject entrprenuership into the system to make the initialtive financially sustainable. So it shoud not be purely non-profit.
- 10% of Fund will be utilized for admin and opex plus a modest return

Peace is far less interactive than war. In a war, people go and kill people. In a peace situation, people abstain from killing people.
Its hard to do anything positive about peace other than not conducting or participating in wars.

Its okay talking, but peace very little action, other than asking other people not to act (in a war-like manner).

I am - nonetheless - all in favour of this intitiative.

The final nail to the coffin that put an end to the Vietnam War was neither bullets, napalm nor agent orange. Twas the American people's mass action for peace. There was no internet media then.

Yeah a number of efficaciously protesting people equivalent to 10% of users of myspace.com could possibly end the war in Iraq. Web 2.0 can serve as a the new platform for more effective and more participatory peace agenda building and advocacy campaigns.

like it....just need to have more refinement.

Public sentiment is a very powerful tool.

Rizal
Rizal Posted: April 28, 2007, 11:29 am

yes .. well i just came up with this in 5 sec... and didnt really structurize anything.. so ill need all the help i can get..

Weill need a council to determine the agenda of this organisation and we will need people from all sectors... active politicians, doctors, lawyers, developers, designers etc.. from all of the above and more. the more skill and talent we have in our organisation the better and bigger it will be. it all starts here as an idea. but the hardest thing will be to execute it. so any people have any ideas or suggestions just keep it up...

maby we have people who want to build the platform. and we might have some organisation sponsoring the domain and servers... and just spread the word to different communities like having agents haha diplomats who will go to their spheres of community and act like agents...

we will see how it goes..

anathema Posted: April 29, 2007, 1:39 am

World peace. That old chestnut. This is meant to be an original idea? Or is it the same one that beauty queens have been having for decades. Nice sentiment but that is all it is.

Rizal
Rizal Posted: April 29, 2007, 5:51 am

everybody knows its an old idea. but instead of being negative about. why dont you come with some innovative ideas to make it new again.

the people that demonstrates on the streets should be as much worth as people demonstrating on the net... come on take a look at the presidential election in us 2008.

obama , hillary clinton all the others are going web 2.0 for the election. doesnt that say anything. i mean obama is twittering and myspaceing and has his own web 2.0 site...

why shouldnt people who wants less violence in this world join together and as a crowdsourcing voice go against politicians?

anathema
anathema Posted: April 30, 2007, 2:11 am

Ok. Sorry. Maybe I was needlessly dismissive. We all want to change the world after all. Where shall we start?

acamedia
acamedia Posted: May 3, 2007, 11:28 pm

first, let's not delude ourselves that WAR is a business. second, as long as you have the Federal Reserve in private hands manufacturing "inflation" and Capitalism 1.0 embracing the "scarcity model" then it's a steep uphill battle.

why did your "Rizal" as your handle, just asking in the context of the pinoys?

Generic_Idea_Machine: Thanks for the warning...

Remember ROME was not build overnight, and Nixon had his term shortened in months of peaceful protest.

Cycko is right on his observation on Vietnam.

Kudos to Doymarn/Fish99.

acamedia: I envy you for raising the last sentence but its immaterial now , but i have a feeling he is of malay heritage too.

RiZAL: As a member of this business, i proposed collaboration via a FORUM posting and or message exchange very soon as we gathered attention and noble idea community sourcing. You are right that a council(upper assembly) have to be created or eventually when our tribe increases. We have to make stand on issues that demand conformity whatever cause in the name of PEACE. We cant sort out the political demography yet but sizing up now we are obviously from different sector and already represent distinct voices. (am from the academe, cycko: community service and you: corporate mgmt?).

Well...shall we exchange email add for a start? Or a chat conference?

generic_idea_machine
generic_idea_machine Posted: May 6, 2007, 1:13 pm

so we are going to achieve world peace via means of peaceful protests?
hmm if that was the case, the hippie protests should have been enough to stop the proliferation of the military industrialization complex
