The Cambrian House Crew
I think web 2.0 and CH are the missing link for ordinary people to contribute meaningfully in the new ways of creating wealth in this so called new economy.Cycko, Feb 2007
Cambrian House began as a crowdsourcing community using a wisdom of crowds based approach to discover new business and technology ideas. These pages are being kept online as a technology demo to showcase Chaordix™.

Product Placement Marketing AND Crowdsourced Photo/Illo Corporate AND Sponsorship. Bring together 3 parties on one site: 1) Companies who have products to market; 2) Buyers of stock images; and 3) Photographers and illustrators (amateur and pro). Here's an example: I need an up-to-date photo of a young female entrepreneurial type talking on a cell phone outdoors. Sony Ericsson needs to market their new Walkman phones. Tyler is a photographer looking for a commissioned project. By bringing these 3 parties together: I get up-to-date images; Sony Ericsson gets their new products out there in a useful way; and photographers and illustrators get more work. The company comissioning the work could engage a "pro" registered on the site to shoot the photo set, or the topic could be set up and the "crowd" asked to contribute appropriate images for a period of time. Crowd photos are ranked through voting. The final set is made available and sold online. (See pricing comments below.)
I was looking for stock photos featuring people and technology (pda, cell phones, laptops, monitors) and the images had mostly very OLD tech. I combined this need with discussions about product placement methods/optics & thought of iStock.... etc ... and voila! Pricing could be flexible. Sony Ericsson may want to pay Tyler the site registered photographer handsomely (based on his online ranking and portfolio) for his work & then let the photos be used for free in Web and Print formats. Charge for larger images. Branding within the images could be subtle or overt, depending on what makes sense creatively and what the company wants. Clothing, cars, technology, vacation spots, teen style, urbanscapes ... whatever changes regularly and needs image updating.
