Cambrianhouse has inspired me to become more professional and study a whole lot of new things, so now I am a lot more skilled and I think I may have landed a killer job at Electronic Arts, probably thanks to the mention of Gwabs

The Idea

Build web based app that would double as a social network where people create an enhanced profile. The service would use profiles like any other social network (interest matching etc.) but here is how this service would be different... The profiles would support some sort of semantic markup or existing microformats so that they can be machine-readable and processed. Still nothing new.... but I would like to see the ability to do the following: - complete profile using keywords that represent 'current topics of interest' and filters for content type (text, audio, video, image). - select from list of 3rd party content services to give permission to read and process profile subscription data and send notifications via email or RSS. - incorporate optional suggestion engine so that subscription topics can point to related books or DVDs on amazon. - change subscription topics by editing your profile. Once keywords are removed, you are 'unsubscribed' from the service/network.

I thought of this idea when I was...

I've been in many conversations about 'web conversation tracking' and started a focus group at keeptrackof.it to test current tools and analyze the culture. This idea, a mix of obviousness and existing mindsets of the semantic web, came out during a discussion a few months ago but it was just a random braindump. I recently read it again and thought it made sense enough to further consider or find out if a service is preceisely doing this. money can be charged for any syndicators who want to join the trusted network of content providers.
